ReportingtotheCommunity Outreach Advisor, Admissions & Recruitment,theCoordinator, Indigenous Admissions & Recruitment Supportworks to create opportunities for learners and their supporters/families to access and engage with post-secondary education at OCAD University (OCAD U). The Coordinator also connects with secondary schools, Indigenous Institutes and Indigenous community organizations to establish visits, presentations and workshops with Indigenous learners.

SummaryofResponsibilities:

Work directly with Indigenous learners as they navigate their path to OCAD U Participate in overall strategic Admissions & Recruitment events, and communications; develop supports, communications and events that contribute to Indigenous learner and applicant sense of readiness and belonging at OCAD U Collaborate with the Student Success Coordinator to ensure that Indigenous applicants receive relevant campus or community-based supports Coordinate with the Indigenous Student Centre and Admissions & Recruitment staff to invite the supporters, guardians, and families to access, engage and build relationships with the University’s Indigenous communities and services as necessary Assist the Student Success Coordinator and Indigenous Student Centre to identify non-academic supports (e.g. financial aid, housing,childcareandcommunityresources)forIndigenouslearnersapplyingtoandenrollinginundergraduateprograms astheytransition toOCADU’s Toronto campus Promoteon-/off-campusprograms that create opportunities for Indigenous learners to build confidence in their creativity and portfolio through workshops, presentations and 1:1 appointments PromoteandidentifyOCADUawards,scholarships,andbursariesavailabletoIndigenousstudents Work with the Admissions & Recruitment and Indigenous Student Centre teams to develop presentations, stories, and visual materials aboutOCADUprograms, Indigenousstudentlifeandcommunity In consultation with the supervisor develop and execute a plan for visits to secondary schools, Indigenous Institutes and Indigenous community organizations Participate in the Aboriginal Post-Secondary Information Program (APSIP) tour as required Support the evaluation of visit activities and outcomes through data entry, report writing, budget tracking and other administrative work Respondtoandtrackapplicant and community-based organizations and educatorinquiriesusing the CRMdatabase (Slate) Contribute to the development of diversity, equity, inclusivity, and accessibility (DEIA) strategies throughout all programs, services and communications Support the Community Outreach Advisor with other duties or projects that contribute to the successful operation of Admissions & Recruitment

Qualifications:

Post-secondary degree in Art or Design; a concentration in Indigenous practice or history, or Indigenous cultural or critical theory would be an asset Minimum of two (2) years of related administrative work experience, preferably in a post-secondary educational environment, or equivalent Understanding of Indigenous cultural, educational, political, and economic conditions Knowledge of Ontario, Canadian and international secondary and post-secondary school systems Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, with a demonstrated strength and comfort with public speaking Strong organizational and analytical skills Strong interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment A demonstrated commitment to providing outstanding customer service Demonstrated commitment to the principles of equity and diversity, and experience promoting a respectful work and learning environment for students, staff and faculty Flexibility in work hours; must be willing and able to travel and work irregular hours (occasional evenings and weekends), as required A valid G class driver’s license (no vehicle required)

Compensation: OPSEU Unit I, Appendix A, Grade A3; $30,098.14 to $39,048.80 per annum. This salary has been prorated to reflect a 60% workload.

Hours of Work: Monday to Friday, for a total of 21 hours per week.
