Travel: No Job Summary:  Assist with the implementation of therapeutic holistic activities for individual participants and for groups within a team care model, consistent with VON mission statement, program operational goals and individual participant goals. Responsibilities: Assist with implementation of programme in conjunction with team members Ensure that present and future volunteers are incorporated in the planning of activities with the clients, based on client and program needs/goals Works in collaboration with the Site ADP Coordinator and Coordinator of Volunteers to ensure that volunteers are integral to program delivery Explore diverse resources in the community that will assist with program planning Ensure that the program/activities are well documented for other staff members to implement Contribute to the planning of monthly calendars of special events/programming and submit when requested Contribute to the creation and maintenance of an atmosphere of warmth, caring, personal interest, resulting in a level of client participation that is appropriate and positive, as reflected by participant and family caregiver satisfaction Other duties as assigned Qualifications:

This position is a Canada Summer Jobs position open to students who meet the eligibility requirements of the program. To be eligible to participate in the CSJ initiative, individuals must:

Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment Have been registered as full-time students in the previous academic year and intend to return to school on a full-time basis in the next academic year Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act Be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial/territorial legislation and regulations Other Qualifications: In the process of obtaining education in Gerontology, Therapeutic Recreation, Social Services or equivalent education Demonstrated knowledge and experience in developing, implementing, and evaluating a therapeutic, holistic program plan, meeting the identified needs of each client is an asset Certification in First Aid and CPR level C is an asset Experience with computer programs (word processing, electronic communication) is an asset Good communication and active listening skills Ability to take direction, as well as to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team Capacity to remain calm in unexpected situations A current and original copy of a satisfactory Criminal Records Check is required upon the start of your employment A Vulnerable Sector Search and/or Child Abuse Registry Check may be required Ability to speak French is an asset in French Designated areas Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities: Fast-paced Environment; Attention to Detail; Lift and carry using appropriate lifting techniques; Bend, push, pull, grip, reach, kneel, crouch using good body mechanics; Walk, sit, stand, climb stairs; Fine hand movements
