You will be responsible to provide leadership to a team of talented underwriters passionate about Equipment breakdown, including team and one-on-one leadership, training, employee development, and crafting strategies. As a leader, you will ensure that underwriting quality and service standards within the team meet and/or exceed corporate and Engineering branch objectives.

This position will be responsible for overall management of the EBI footprint across Ontario while maintaining profitable growth, and not limited to:

Marketing

Strategic Planning

Broker/MGA management

Underwriting and inspection analytics

Portfolio management

The business development aspect of this role will permit the engineering underwriting team to be part of the division’s efforts in advancing the sales of Equipment Breakdown products both throughout Aviva and externally to our brokers and customers.

What you'll do

Accountable for the day-to-day operation of equipment breakdown insurance practices across Ontario, including the bottom line, top line and pipeline of the equipment breakdown line of business.

Manage portfolio including establishing and executing the GCS strategy.

Formulate service guidelines to govern workflow and function toward achieving broker and customer satisfaction.

Maintains current quality assurance per Aviva guidelines.

Support Ontario underwriters to operate effectively and efficiently while providing all the tools and training required.

Coach and mentor direct reports through regular meetings and correspondence.

Deliver on the Aviva Equipment Breakdown Strategy.

Maintain profitable growth and employee satisfaction.

Underwriting decisions.

Financial performance and operational reviews.

Portfolio analytics & monthly presentation.

Management of key Broker and MGA relationships.


What you'll bring

A minimum of 8 years’ experience in the Equipment Breakdown field, including underwriting of complex risks and code objects.

Credible reputation as an industry specialist among peers, broker partners and with industry associations.

Solid experience as a people leader.

Previous experience developing insurance products.

Has developed and presented technical business development material.

Bilingualism (French and English) is a solid asset.

Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to develop and deliver presentations. 

Ability to deal with people with various backgrounds and perspectives; develop, teach and coach staff is critical.

Advanced analytical & problem-solving skills alongside the ability to manage & prioritize multiple projects.

Strategic thinking.

Strong ability to multi-task and deal with conflicting priorities.

Negotiation/persuasion skills.

High willingness to share knowledge.

Ability to make appropriate decisions in a timely manner.

Strong Marketing and business development skills.

Passionate about Equipment breakdown Line of Business.
