The Team Lead, Systems Administration provides supervision and direction to a team in a distributed and centralized computing environment. The role is responsible for allocation of work, coaching, orientation and training, and scheduling of staff, and assisting with problem-resolution. The Team Lead is responsible for the day-to-day management and administration of BC Children’s Research’s enterprise server infrastructure and related systems. This includes all file, print, application, web, messaging and database systems, as well as core infrastructure applications and functions such as networking equipment, storage, backup and virtualized VMware environment. The Team Lead provides second and third level support for Service Desk and Application Support Teams, related to hardware and operating systems. In addition to developing specialized solutions to meet the organization’s server infrastructure and communication requirements, the Team Lead is responsible for the coordination, control, testing, maintenance and support of infrastructure systems to achieve the highest level of server and system and availability throughout the BC Children’s Research.

Skills and Knowledge
Proven hands-on specialized project experience with Microsoft’s infrastructure tools and technologies including Linux, VMWARE, CISCO, iSCSI/FC Storage Windows 2008/2012 server operating systems. Expert knowledge and understanding of core Microsoft & Linux technologies and strategies, including technology design, implementation equipment and support functions related to Exchange, SMS, Visual Basic, IIS, Active Directory, SQL Server, DNS, VPNs and general networking. Strong enterprise-level experience in the systems administration and implementation in a large-scale environment, including backup and recovery methods. Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills with the ability to communicate complex ideas in simple terminology. Ability to understand and clearly relate technical information and principals of operation to other members of the organization. Ability to analyze operational problems and recommend innovative solutions, demonstrating time management skills. Proven ability to plan and execute complex projects with stringent budgets and timelines. Certifications such as Microsoft MCSE/MCDBA or VMWARE would be an asset. Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of legislative obligations and provincial commitments found in the foundational documents - including Truth & Reconciliation Commission’s Calls to Action (2015), In Plain Sight (2020), BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (2019), United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP), Reclaiming Power and Place Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women & Girls Calls for Justice (2019), the Declaration Act Action Plan and Remembering Keegan: A First Nations Case Study - and how they intersect across the health care system. Supports team members on their learning journey related to Indigenous-specific Anti-racism, Indigenous Cultural Safety and Humility, DEI and anti-racism. Works collaboratively with appropriate Indigenous teams and Diversity Equity and Inclusion departments to ensure holistic application of culturally safe, equitable and anti-racist lenses. Commitment to upholding the shared responsibility of creating lasting and meaningful reconciliation in Canada as per TRC (2015) and BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (2019).
