The Role The Instructor's role is to professionally manage the learning process of the students and to ensure that students achieve established learning objectives to the maximum of their potential. The instructor is to make use of any and all available resources, methods, techniques and strategies, to ensure student success. The candidate is expected to work collaboratively with colleagues to create a learning environment which is pedagogically sound, technically supported and innovative in nature.We are currently building our talent pool for potential Online Asynchronous ( Student Self-paced) opportunities during the 2024-2025 Academic Year. These courses are held within our Learner Management System, fully online, and do not have any scheduled facilitation components to them. Note: Courses are not guaranteed; successful candidates will only be contacted if a teaching opportunity becomes available.

During the engagement, instructors are responsible for:

Present lessons, lectures, assignments, quizzes, exams, lab activities and lab demonstrations for learners if applicable given the course outline Maintain records for the purposes of grading, assessing professionalism and tracking attendance in both theory and lab classes if given the course outline Manage the classroom or lab to ensure a positive learning environment Show personal interest in the learner and create a climate conducive to optimal learning Provide on-going support, guidance and advice to students Attend all SAIT training as required Achievement of School initiatives and Objectives Be an active and engaged member of the School Adhere to all safety legislation, guidelines and safety standards as required Maintain contact with relevant industry sectors All other duties as required for the position

Qualifications

Minimum Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management is required. An equivalent combination of directly related education and experience may be considered. 2 to 3 year’s knowledge and experience of current industry standards and best practices in Construction Management, specifically with Mass Timber products and projects. Relevant field experience within the last six (6) months. 2+ years of previous facilitation or training experience is considered an asset, preferably in Construction Management topics. Additional Qualifications Previous facilitation experience is considered an asset Have strong attention to detail in written communication Ability to organize and present written information Fluent in English reading and vocabulary Positive & respectful attitude Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Team player – easy to collaborate and work with Experience and fluency with Office 365 (MS Word, Outlook and PowerPoint) Experience with videoconferencing technology (MS Teams, WebX, Skype or Zoom) Keen eye for detail with a continuous desire to uphold quality and current standards Well-developed presentation and communication skills (written and oral) Innovative mindset and desire to make long term lasting improvements Ability to take a firm stand on important issues, yet be empathetic to the needs of students and the work team Basic computer skills and experience with Microsoft Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and Excel Demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills Customer service focus and strong relationship building skills A sense of humor and an ability to have fun while getting things done Job Location: Calgary, ABJob classification: Adjunct Instructor# of positions: MultiplePosting closing date: Open until suitable candidates are foundPosition end date: August 31, 2025
