Adjunct Instructor

SAIT’s **Continuing Education and Professional Studies (CEPS)** focuses on non-credit programs supporting corporate training, the individual learner and international projects. We create courses and programs for life-long learning with careers at our core. Our courses range from exploring general interests to up-skilling for career advancement and reskilling for career changes. We complete all background activities required to set up our products for students to purchase and experience several delivery options.

Our Continuing Education opportunities are typically scheduled during daytime and evenings to suit a diverse learner population. Our learners are mature, focused, and want to be challenged.

**Note**: We are currently building our Adjunct Instructor talent pool for potential opportunities during the 2024-2025 Academic Year. Course assignments are not guaranteed; you will only be contacted if a teaching opportunity becomes available. These opportunities may consist of Corporate Training Projects, International Projects or Continuing Education courses.

This opportunity is in regards to our new Hydrogen-focused continuing education programming:

- SNRG 001: Hydrogen Awareness and Understanding for Process-Related Occupations
- SNRG 002: Entry-Level Technical Applications in Hydrogen for Process Occupations

Additional courses may be added to this list throughout the 2024/2025 academic year.

**The Role**:

- Present lessons, lectures, assignments, quizzes, exams, lab activities and lab demonstrations for learners if applicable given the course outline
- Maintain records for the purposes of grading, assessing professionalism and tracking attendance in both theory and lab classes if given the course outline
- Manage the classroom or lab to ensure a positive learning environment
- Show personal interest in the learner and create a climate conducive to optimal learning
- Provide on-going support, guidance and advice to students
- Attend all SAIT training as required
- Achievement of School initiatives and Objectives
- Be an active and engaged member of the School
- Adhere to all safety legislation, guidelines and safety standards as required
- Maintain contact with relevant industry sectors
- All other duties as required for the position

**Qualifications**:

- Post-secondary designation in Power Engineering and/or Process Engineering from a recognized post-secondary institution
- Certification on Pressure Vessels preferred
- Valid Professional Engineering Designation (PEng.) preferred
- 5+ years of relevant industry experience, with knowledge and expertise in Power Engineering (2nd Class or higher) and Pressure Vessels

Additional Qualifications- 3+ years of former teaching/training experience preferred, including relevant experience in online asynchronous (i.e. student self-paced) and/or online synchronous (i.e. virtual) deliveries preferred
- Proven ability to manage multiple responsibilities and tight timelines
- Skilled at utilizing a consultative approach and building long-term relationships as collaborator and influencer
- Comfortable coordinating change and meeting deliverables under pressure
- Keen eye for detail with a continuous desire to uphold quality and current standards
- Well-developed presentation and communication skills (written and oral)
- Innovative mindset and desire to make long term lasting improvements
- Ability to take a firm stand on important issues, yet be empathetic to the needs of students and the work team
- Basic computer skills and experience with Microsoft Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and Excel
- Demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills
- Customer service focus and strong relationship building skills
- A sense of humor and an ability to have fun while getting things done
- Demonstrated commitment and understanding of human rights, equity, diversity and inclusion with the ability to communicate and work effectively inter-culturally with diverse groups of students, employees and the community
