JOB SUMMARY

The Human Resources Generalist delivers comprehensive HR support across all levels of the assigned business unit, upholding Safe Fleet’s Mission, Vision, and Values. Reporting to the HR Director of the business unit, this role serves as the primary HR contact for teams at our Oshawa, ON facility.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Support both unionized and non-unionized employees to ensure a cohesive and engaging work environment. Lead all recruitment activity from job description development and posting of opportunities, through interview planning and job offers. Ensure adherence to Collective Bargaining Agreements and all relevant federal, provincial, and local regulations. Collaborate with senior leadership to develop and implement business practices aligned with organizational objectives. Investigate and advise management on employee and labor relations matters, including working conditions, disciplinary actions, safety, equal employment, and documentation procedures. Spearhead the implementation and upkeep of best practice Health & Safety protocols and systems. Partner with Payroll to ensure accurate and timely input of HRIS data, including new hires, terminations, benefits, payroll deductions, and other employee information changes affecting payroll. Coordinate annual HR processes such as Performance Reviews, Merit Increases, and Bonus Payouts. Facilitate organizational communication to ensure effective and consistent sharing of messages, priorities, and initiatives across all levels. Oversee onboarding and offboarding procedures. Manage benefits administration for designated employee groups. Develop and deliver training content tailored to organizational needs for both leaders and employees. Establish and lead a "Social Committee" to organize employee events and activities promoting inclusion, belonging, and appreciation. Conduct recruitment activities including developing job descriptions, creating postings, screening candidates, scheduling and conducting interviews, and maintaining timely communication with candidates. Actively contribute suggestions and participate in projects to enhance Human Resources systems and processes.

Requirements

Prior experience in a unionized environment. Working knowledge of Provincial employment laws and Health & Safety regulations Experience with safety programs and accident investigations. Comprehensive knowledge of administrative procedures, including maintenance of personnel files. Experience in training, recruitment, employee relations/coaching, performance management and employee communications. Experience orchestrating employee engagement events, celebrations, and activities. Proficient user of HRIS, ATS and MS Office applications. Ability to work in-office at our Oshawa, ON facility, on a full-time basis.
