Quality Assurance Technician

SUMMARY
The Quality Assurance Technician is an important member of the Kilian Team and will be a key partner to the Quality Assurance Supervisor in the daily activities of the Quality Department by identifying and resolving quality issues, executing continuous improvement in the manufacturing environment, and supporting and enhancing our ISO 9001 Quality Management System.
Compensation: Hourly Union Employee $25.00 per hour (CAD)
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Provide leadership to all associates regarding product quality at the machine and receiving inspection. Assist in maintaining and enhancing the ISO9001:2015 quality system. Monitors process compliance and product quality by auditing the manufacturing environment. Maintain procedures throughout the operation including vendor certification and gauging techniques. Ability to resolve quality issues by identifying problems and their root cause using PDCA and corrective action documentation. Segregate suspect material, generate defective material reports (DMR) and communicate with the affected stakeholders. Ability to support continuous improvement in a team environment. Maintain calibration system including inspecting, repairing and gauge R&R study. Maintain up-to-date records on the result of inspection tests. Responsible for location of all inspection equipment. Direct the work assignments of quality control personnel under the guidance of the department supervisor. Assist in the training of new machining associates in proper measuring techniques. Assists in making decisions on quality in Managers absence. Ensure the work area is maintained in a neat and orderly fashion. Wear personal protective equipment as required and follow all safety rules and regulations. Perform other duties as assigned by supervision.Critical Competencies
Proficient with the English language, including effective verbal and written communication. Previous experience with ISO9001:2015 quality system is desirable. Knowledge and ability to use different types of measuring devices such as micrometer, Dial indicator, Optical comparators. Skilled working with a personal computer: MS Excel, MS Word, MS Access Good math skills including knowledge of statistical techniques. Ability to read and interpret blueprints. Ability to work in a deadline-oriented environment, prioritize assignments, and handle multiple projects and/or requests concurrently.Education and Experience Requirements
Two years technical College graduate with 1–3 years of related experience desired or high school diploma with 3 - 5 years of related experience required. Experience working in a quality assurance role for a company in the Manufacturing sector desired.Physical Demand and Work Environment:
Work environment includes occasional exposure to noise levels at or above 85 decibels, ability to work with oil and exposure to variable temperatures. Work performed in both manufacturing and office settings. Appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required.
Physical requirements include lifting up to 50 pounds independently, sit and stand for extended periods of time, and ability to bend, twist, reach and walk.
Schedule Monday through Friday 9:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.
