Health & Safety Coordinator Join to apply for the Health & Safety Coordinator role at Pomerleau . Role Overview As a Health and Safety Coordinator at Pomerleau Construction, your mission is clear: to protect lives, one protocol at a time. Working on large‑scale construction projects – from $1.5 million to over $1 billion – you'll ensure that health and safety on our sites and in our offices is not just a policy, but a way of life. Responsibilities Be the pioneer for site health and safety where the project teams look to you for guidance and compliance becomes second nature. You are the leader as it relates to project specific standards, continuously promoting Pomerleau’s H&S standards, OH&S Acts, Regulations and Codes with your teammates and trade partners. You are a key player from day one of project kickoffs; crafting plans, leading meetings, and spotting potential hazards through to project closeouts and team celebrations. Boots on the ground is your thing, getting active out on the job sites to conduct regular site inspections. Lead the incident investigation processes for your project. Dissect high‑risk elements and share the information with your Regional H&S Manager. Prevention isn’t just a program; it’s your way of life. You specialise in building an environment with strong accident‑prevention foresight. Be the first responder when an emergency strikes, orchestrating safety best practices when the unexpected occurs. Share your passion for training, mentoring, and coaching your team on H&S best practices. Compile statistics, identify patterns, and pave the way for proactive improvements. Support the upkeep of Pomerleau’s COR Standards, ensuring all COR elements are met and maintained on your job sites. Qualifications 3–5 years of hands‑on Health & Safety experience in the construction industry. An educational background in Occupational H&S, risk management or direct industry experience. Previous experience or familiarity with Certification of Recognition (COR) and Safety Group (IHSA). Experience supporting marine construction or large‑scale civil & infrastructure projects is considered an asset. People‑management and relationship skills like no other. Proven experience working with computer programs to track and monitor your project’s H&S. Any professional designation is considered an asset (NCSO, CRSP, CRST).
