Applications Developer (MEAN Stack)


Apex Systems is a global IT services provider, and our staffing practice has an opening for an Application Developer who has a background utilizing MEAN Stack (MongoDB, Express.js, Angular, Node.js) to place at our client, a Big 5 bank.



Client: Big 5 Bank

Location: Downtown Toronto. 3 days in office

Duration of Contract/Perm: 6-month contract to begin with opportunity to extend for 12 more months

Hours/week: 37.5 hrs


Job Description


In this role, you will be responsible for the entire development lifecycle, from requirement analysis and design to implementation, testing, deployment, and maintenance. You will work closely with various stakeholders, including business analysts, architects, QA testers, and fellow developers (both onshore and offshore), to deliver high-quality applications that meet our clients' needs.


Responsibilities


  • Collaborate with stakeholders to refine requirements for new features, enhancements, client onboarding, secure API integration, technical debt resolution, process redesign, and security vulnerability resolution.
  • Provide high-level and low-level estimates for work products and break them down into manageable user stories.
  • Translate high-level designs into detailed low-level design documentation.
  • Develop front-end and back-end components using the MEAN Stack (MongoDB, Express.js, Angular, Node.js).
  • Implement unit testing with high coverage and instill a culture of disciplined testing practices.
  • Design, develop, and maintain well-documented, robust, and secure APIs.
  • Implement Single Sign-On (SSO) and session handling mechanisms.
  • Utilize security scanning tools to identify and resolve vulnerabilities.
  • Maintain, upgrade, and optimize existing applications.
  • Collaborate with production support and operations teams to track change rollouts, replication, and troubleshoot issues.
  • Review and improve CI/CD implementations.
  • Assist with production deployments.
  • Possess knowledge or experience in Azure cloud migration (a plus).


Qualifications:


  • 5+ years of application development experience.
  • 4+ years of experience with Angular, Node.js, MongoDB, and Express.js.
  • 2+ years of experience with CI/CD/SCC tools (preferably GitHub).
  • 2+ years of recent experience with the MEAN Stack.
  • 2+ years of experience with unit testing.
  • Strong communication skills.



Nice to Have Skills


  • Experience with Angular version 14.
  • Experience in the banking/financial industry.
  • Experience with Agile methodologies.
  • 2+ years of experience with security implementation.
  • Cloud migration experience.
