Our client is searching for an experienced Executive Director in the senior living sector, to lead the opening of a new retirement residence in Collingwood, Ontario.

Living Water Retirement Residence will be a part of the Living Water resort, a well established organization that puts serving with loving hearts at the center of its operations.

If you are an Executive Director or General Manager of an existing retirement residence this is an opportunity for you to build your team from scratch and have influence on every aspect of the retirement residence operations.

Being a manager in a retirement residence is a hard job, but being the Executive Director, for that you really need superpowers.

You answer to, and are responsible for the well-being of: 100-150 residents, 50-70 employees and 400-600 family members and friends. All these people pull you in 3 different directions, and all want your attention.

And then there are all the different bodies that govern the operations and you have to comply with their rules – Fire safety, Public Health, RHRA, Labour Board… There are more than 20 pieces of legislation that we are accountable to.

And if that's not enough, there are the owners, the bankers, the insurance company, the union rep... all with their needs and wants.

You have to be a budgeting expert, a marketer, a politician, a psychologist, a cook, a nurse and a plumber

Just like Superman, you are on-call 24/7/365 and you sometimes have to change into your cape and tights and fly to the rescue of the team just as you were going into your family dinner, because of – a flood, a fire, a combination of both, a resident went out and didn’t return, no cook showed up and it’s dinner time.
