Parenting Facilitator – ST. DOROTHY – A.P.S.S.P Position available:  1 full-time contract commencing immediately until June 26, 2026 (10‑month school year). Rate:  $40.87 per hour (inclusive of statutory holiday and vacation pay). This is a union position (Association of Professional Student Services Personnel – A.P.S.S.P). Program Overview:  Early On Child & Family Centres are school‑based programs that bring parents, caregivers, and their children (ages 0‑6) together for play‑based activities that promote literacy and numeracy skills through discovery, inquiry, exploration and creativity. The programmes are free and open to all. Duties & Responsibilities Oversee the day‑to‑day operations of the Early On Child & Family Centre in accordance with Board policies and procedures. Support children’s early learning and well‑being of the whole child. Promote positive parent‑child interaction and engagement. Help children transition more easily to kindergarten through a collaborative approach with parents/caregivers, programme facilitators and kindergarten teachers. Engage parents/caregivers positively with the school system using an inclusive approach. Meet the unique and individual needs of families; assist and link families to community resources. Facilitate parenting education that promotes a positive home‑school partnership. Encourage parental engagement in planning and participating in activities with the children. Collaborate with the Principal, school staff and childcare staff (if applicable) to provide a high‑quality, play‑based, developmentally appropriate programme. Ensure consistent programme delivery that is based on current research and best practices. Provide a welcoming, safe, tidy and clean, nurturing, inclusive and respectful environment for parents/caregivers and children. Provide a nutritious snack to children attending the programme. Participate in outreach, as necessary, to promote the programme and maintain attendance levels. Track programme progress and attendance and ensure records are kept up to date. Perform administrative duties such as data collection for programme statistics, maintaining inventory of the Centre and submitting written requests for supplies and equipment. Participate in ongoing professional development and meetings (e.g. with staff, agencies, communities, schools) as required. Other duties as required. Qualifications Early Childhood Education Diploma plus at least 2 years of related university study. Minimum two years’ experience working with families and their young children (ages 0‑6) in a childcare or educational setting. Knowledge of and experience in family literacy and early childhood education. Knowledge of the early acquisition of literacy and numeracy skills. Experience in implementing outreach and community development programmes. Strong leadership, communication, organisational and interpersonal skills. Knowledge of the “How Does Learning Happen” document, learning through play & inquiry, and Reggio Emilia Theory is an asset.
