This position provides leadership for a range of initiatives within the agency and in the community to support local leadership development and community engagement; enhance service user engagement with Macaulay; strengthen parent advocacy skills and create opportunities for network building. This position provides information, resources, support, and advocacy training for parents on a range of different topics.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Use a variety of strategies to increase local leadership development and community engagement.
- Implement strategies to develop and support family engagement and network building.
- Provide leadership and mentoring to Macaulay staff on how to increase engagement of services users in agency/program processes.
- Coordinate and facilitate workshops with other Macaulay programs and community partner agencies to reach and meet the needs of all families, including high risk/isolated families.
- Create content, lead and facilitate parent groups.
- Attend EarlyON programs and provide support, and guidance to EarlyON staff as needed
- Develop and foster strong relationships with Macaulay families through weekly parent groups, and in-person check ins at various EarlyON sites. Provide one-to-one consultations to parents on an array of topics ranging from navigating the school system, Ontario Autism Program, parent advocacy, and resources and funding for children with extra support needs
- Build and support parent network groups.
- Maintain documentation of process and activities.
- Maintain accurate and complete program statistics and records and prepare reports as required.
- Participate in Agency or community task forces, committees, and /or work groups as needed.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Minimum Bachelor’s level degree with 3 to 5 years of social work, adult education and/or community development work experience or related work experience.
- Strong background in group facilitation and community engagement practices.
- Demonstrated understanding of issues related to working with marginalized low-income, and newcomer neighbourhoods.
- Excellent leadership, organization and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication and listening skills.
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective work partnerships with families, colleagues and service providers of diverse backgrounds, abilities and identities.
- Valid Ontario Driver’s License and access to a vehicle an asset.
- Strong written and verbal communication in English required
- Strong written and verbal communication in Spanish an asset.
- Excellent time management skills and demonstrated ability to prioritize.
- Strong understanding of teamwork and independent practice with the ability to work effectively to contribute to high performing teams.
- Ability to work all shifts, including day, evening and weekend hours as required.
- Acceptable Vulnerable Sector Police Reference Check.

**SALARY**: Community Engagement Coordinator Salary Scale (starting at $35.32 - $64,247 - $69,150 per annum **_(prorated)_**)**_ _**with Competitive Benefits Package (health & dental) and paid time off entitlements (starting at 20 vacation days & 3 float days **_(prorated)_**).
