Your Role:


We are currently seeking an Junior/Intermediate Electrical Designer for our Pickering, Ontario office. An Electrical Designer provides direct support to the Electrical Design Engineering Department. Candidates will perform electrical and civil design and technical calculations, construction details as well as drawings and diagrams related to project requirements. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Responsibilities:


  • For wiring systems projects, produces designs/drawings, schematics and wiring diagrams, electrical equipment layouts, grounding, lightning, security and fire alarms etc.
  • Perform electrical and civil design and technical calculations, material lists, construction details, drawings and diagrams relating to the overhead and underground distribution system
  • Prepare complex and complete drawings using computerized drafting tools, using AutoCAD
  • Exercise initiative in completing recurring assignments independently and applying judgement in determining which of many methods are applicable


Qualifications:


  • Graduation from an accredited institute program in Electrical Technology or Technician with OACETT Certification is considered an asset
  • Minimum 4+ years of relevant design/drafting experience in consulting and/or Energy environment is considered an asset
  • Must be proficient in AutoCAD
  • Experience in the nuclear field is considered a major asset
  • Knowledge and working experience related to Canadian Electric Code and Electrical Safety Code
  • Computer knowledge in MS Office Suite
  • Ability to work in team environment
  • Well-developed communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to work efficiently and effectively when managing multiple tasks
  • Effective problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in an engineering consulting firm is considered an asset.
  • Working experience in 3D design software would be considered an asset


Additional Information


A requirement of working for Tetra Tech is that you are at least 18 years of age and legally entitled to work in Canada. (A copy of a valid work permit may be required.)

If you are considered for the position, clearance on all applicable background checks (which may include criminal, identity, educational and security) and professional reference checks is required. Some Tetra Tech positions require an enhanced level of background assessment, which is dictated by law. These positions require advanced criminal record checks that must also be conducted from time to time after commencement of employment.
