Project Coordinator Indigenous Wellness

Unity Health Toronto is working toward making transformative changes in its relationship with Indigenous peoples, and in improvements to health care and care experiences for Indigenous peoples at each of its sites. In order to continue building its capabilities to participate in reconciliation and advancing wellness of Indigenous peoples and to better ensure that First Nations, Inuit, and Metis people are able to exercise their rights to cultural expression while attending the hospital, Unity Health will be hiring to fulfill the mandate of the Office of Indigenous Wellness, Reconciliation and Partnerships. Responsibilities & Activities Liaises with the Manager/Project Manager to obtain the vision/goal for small scale projects; utilizes information received to facilitate the project planning, development and implementation process that is focused on a single area at any given time; Ensures appropriate mechanisms are in place for the optimal delivery of projects, including best practices guidelines and tools for the effective management and execution of projects; Conducts needs assessment for small scale projects to facilitate defining project plans, deliverables, schedules and timelines to meet identified goals; Develops and manages straightforward communication(s) and other initiatives that will advance project goals and objectives, ensuring appropriate mechanisms are in place to effectively monitor and evaluate project activities, etc.; Communicates straightforward project plan and project expectations, in a clear fashion, to ensure project goals can be optimally achieved, utilizing assistance of team members, as required; Utilizes quantitative and qualitative analytical tools to support decision making to advance projects; Manages straightforward/small scale project plans to ensure projects are delivered on time/on budget and in compliance with legislated requirement. Work closely with other departments and stakeholders and will set deadlines, assign responsibilities, monitor and summarize progress of projects and prepare status update reports; Plan, budget, oversee and document all aspects of the specific projects; Review of project documentation when consultants are utilized; Liaising with authorities of appropriate jurisdiction, and preparation of documents for approvals; Work within the set project budget and schedule to complete project; Liaising regularly with users to provide project status, manage expectations and concerns proactively; Interviews candidates to facilitate optimal identification/selection of appropriate staff or consultants under supervision of the Manager or Director; Manages/develops/motivates and directs staff, while defining accountabilities to support staff achieving performance goals; Delegates tasks and implements strategies to build/foster an effective team environment and a culture built on respect/trust; Provides knowledge transfer for the project team to facilitate the optimal and timely completion of projects; Implements appropriate systems to support the day to day delivery of project staff functional activities, acting as a mentor to facilitate the provision of excellence in work activities; Coordination of Hospital service departments (i.e. Engineering, Telecommunications, Information Technology, Environmental Services, Finance) via team/move meetings and/or regular project progress reports to ensure active input on project planning, scheduling and completion of associated assigned duties; Perform all projects with minimal disruption to the Hospital via hospital-wide communication when impacted and proactive execution of duties. Educational Knowledge & Skills A minimum of 2 years’ experience working with an inter-professional/interdisciplinary team; Undergraduate degree in a relevant health or social services field or equivalent relevant work experience; One (1) to two (2) years of project management experience in a health care environment an asset; Some experience in facilitation, collaboration and negotiation with multiple stakeholders/service providers required; Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate information/ideas in a manner that is easily understood by others required; Excellent customer service, interpersonal and listening skills with the ability to effectively interact with staff all levels required; Excellent computer skills e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint, other please specify, required; Good presentation and negotiation skills; Excellent problem recognition and problem solving skills required; Very good organizational and time management skills with the ability to deal with situations where information is difficult to obtain, complex or ambiguous required; Detail oriented with very good analytical skills related to proposal development/project management required; Ability to solve simple problems independently required; Ability to multi-task while producing high quality work required; Ability to work efficiently and effectively as a team player required; Ability to think on your own and pay close attention to detail required; Ability to take initiative and work in a self-directed manner as required; Ability to produce work in accordance with Hospital policy and practice required; Ability to handle multiple personalities/conflict and work well with others required; Ability to effectively handle situations where information is difficult to obtain or complex required; Ability to work in a fast pace environment and motivate project staff to achieve a common goal required; Ability to effectively analyze problems, interpret needs and develop creative solutions required; Ability to manage straightforward small scale projects independently and/or with minimal assistance required; Ability to interact with people from all disciplines/levels, be flexible/adaptable to change and maintain confidentiality required; Ability to work well independently and collaboratively as a team player with staff/stakeholders to undertake report generation, analysis and project implementation required; Demonstrated team player with the ability to be flexible and adaptable to change required; Demonstrated commitment to and understanding of the Hospitals Mission and values required; Ability to see own weaknesses and seek guidance or support.
