Traditional Healing and Wellness Coordinator

**About Us**
The Indigenous Primary Health Care Council (IPHCC) is an Indigenous-governed, culture-based and Indigenous-informed organization. Its key mandate is to support the advancement and evolution of Indigenous primary health care services provision and planning throughout Ontario. Membership includes Aboriginal Health Access Centres (AHAC), Aboriginal governed Community Health Centres (ACHC), other Indigenous governed providers and partnering Indigenous health researchers and scholars.
**Overview**
Reporting to the Cultural Safety Manager, the Traditional Healing and Wellness Coordinator will support the development of a mentorship and training program for Indigenous Healers within a comprehensive primary health care setting; and through the design and delivery of Traditional Healing skill development, increasing gaps for the Indigenous aging population of skilled Traditional Healers will be addressed.
**Responsibilities**
- **Research, Outreach, and Planning - **researches and collects information for the Traditional Healing model; establishes and works with an advisory panel; conducts literature reviews and environmental scanning; conducts stakeholder mapping; coordinates focus groups.
- **Design and Development -** review training for existing models to inform the development of standards for the expanded sector; support creation of Traditional Healer accreditation module; training and mentorship models; schedule, present materials; communication and outreach to cultivate relationships; support development of promotional material, communications and dissemination.
- **Consultation, Liaison, and Meaningful Engagement - **liaises various organizations and stakeholders, Indigenous organizations, communities and people to inform the development of model and training.
**Requirements**:
- Undergraduate degree in an appropriate discipline (public health, health promotion, health administration, health services, Indigenous studies) or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Knowledge of the Indigenous health care sector.
- Knowledge of Indigenous peoples history in Ontario
- Knowledge of research and analytical techniques
- Knowledge of program and policy development principles
- Understanding of cultural safety principles
- Excellent communication (written and oral), presentation, and engagement skills
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and seek assistance as required
- Demonstrated ability to work independently or collaboratively and effectively as part of a team
- Effective decision-making skills and following through with the general strategic direction
**Compensation**
Salary is commensurate with qualifications, and experience and is set within the IPHCC’s established salary grid and policy guidelines.
