IT Business Analyst

Job Description The IT Business Analyst’s role is to support the Business Applications project leads in the planning, design, development, and launch of efficient business systems that support core organizational functions and processes. This includes gathering and analyzing data for business cases, proposed projects, and system requirements. The IT Business Analyst is also responsible for generating and compiling reports based on findings, including probable causes and potential solutions to system issues. This individual applies proven communication, analytical, and problem‑solving skills to maximize the benefit of IT system investments. Responsibilities Health and Safety Maintaining a safe and efficient working environment Following company health and safety standards and reporting any unsafe acts or conditions Strategy and Planning Meeting with decision makers, system owners, and end users to define business, financial, and operational requirements and system goals, and identifying and resolving system issues Reviewing and analyzing the effectiveness and efficiency of existing systems and developing strategies for improving or further leveraging these systems Identifying and establishing scope and parameters of systems analysis to define outcome criteria and measure‑taking actions Acquisition and Deployment Collaborating in the planning, design, development, and deployment of new applications and enhancements to existing applications Conducting research on software and hardware products to justify recommendations and support purchasing efforts Performing cost‑benefit and return‑on‑investment analyses for proposed systems to aid management in implementation decisions Operations Management Preparing and delivering reports, recommendations, or alternatives that address existing and potential trouble areas in operating systems across the organization, proposing feasible and scalable solutions Developing and configuring reports to improve financial reporting and analysis Maintaining BI reports using Oracle BI, Microsoft Power BI, and other reporting tools Ensuring compatibility and interoperability of in‑house computing systems Coordinating and performing in‑depth tests, including end‑user reviews, for modified and new systems, and other post‑implementation support Providing orientation and training to end users for all modified and new systems Designing and building reporting using proprietary tools in other third‑party solutions Reviewing query performance and optimizing where required Assessing and amending any errors in a timely fashion Providing status reports where required Following proper change‑management processes when performing any changes to solutions Working with and assisting project teams on implementation or upgrades of new and existing business solutions Qualifications Education Required: College diploma or university degree in business administration, computer science, or management information systems and 3 years of related work experience. Work Experience Required: 3+ years’ experience in deployment and support of software systems implementations and global environments (cloud, hosted and on‑premise platforms). Knowledge Required Experience with Microsoft Power BI, Oracle BI Publisher, and OTBI report and data model development Oracle Fusion knowledge (technical, ERP, HCM) including basic functional knowledge of related modules (GL, AR, AP, PPM, SCM, Core HR, Talent, Recruitment, Absence, OTL) Knowledge and hands‑on experience with applications such as Oracle Fusion, Hyperion Financial Management, Oracle EPM, InEight Cloud, InEight Document, and Intelex Safety; these are beneficial to this role Proven experience overseeing the design, development, and implementation of software and hardware solutions, systems, or products Extensive practical knowledge in importing data for use in report software, spreadsheets, graphs and flow charts Proven experience in operating and analyzing database hardware, software, and standards, as well as data retrieval methodologies Excellent understanding of the organization’s goals and objectives Flexible and adaptable in learning new technologies and solutions Demonstrated project management skills; Business Analysis and Project Management Fundamentals training or PMP designation an asset Fluent English language skills Personal Attributes Excellent analytical, mathematical, and creative problem‑solving skills Excellent written and oral communication skills Excellent listening and interpersonal skills Logical and efficient, with keen attention to detail Ability to conduct research into system issues and products as required Ability to communicate ideas in both technical and user‑friendly language Highly self‑motivated and directed Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high‑pressure environment Strong customer service orientation Experience working in a team‑oriented, collaborative environment Seniority Level Mid‑Senior level Employment Type Full‑time Job Function Information Technology Industries Mining #J-18808-Ljbffr
