As a Senior Planner with the Town, you would be responsible for delivering a broad variety of community planning services and outcomes, and providing advice and guidance on a variety of matters related to growth and change in the community. For example, you would be responsible for preparing or managing contracts related to the preparation of Area Structure Plans, Outline Plans, and related matters. You would also be required to manage the Town’s Land Use Bylaw and subdivision and development processes, and the implementation of the MDP and support in the implementation of related documents such as the Town’s Transportation Master Plan and Infrastructure Master Plan. Requirements The ideal candidate has a proven track record of success in building relationships with key stakeholders, and using their deep knowledge of planning and design theory and practice to manage key aspects of growth and change in an urban community. Knowledge and experience with planning legislation such as but not limited to the Municipal Government Act (MGA) is expected, as is experience working with other levels of government such as rural municipalities and various provincial ministries and agencies. A broad knowledge-base and a variety of experiences and demonstrated successes within these experiences, will be an asset. The successful candidate will be a Registered Professional Planner (RPP) in the Province of Alberta and will have an undergraduate degree in community planning and design or a related field, and a minimum of five (5) years of planning and design experience in a municipal or comparable setting.
