We are at a critical juncture wherein research of pain mechanisms and pain management strategies require effective translation to ensure optimal outcomes for individuals who suffer from pain. The University of Toronto Centre for the Study of Pain plays an important role in linking researchers and clinicians through education. The Centre’s vision and mission is to be a key academic voice and a leader, both nationally and internationally, in pain research and education, and to create and disseminate knowledge on pain and inform clinical excellence through interdisciplinary collaboration of the Faculties of Medicine, Nursing, Dentistry, and Pharmacy.Your opportunity: We are seeking a Research Assistant to support the implementation of the SafeOp Perioperative Pain Management Initiative, a national effort to advance best practices in opioid prescribing and perioperative pain management for opioid-naïve adult patients undergoing elective surgery.The Research Assistant will work closely with the Project Lead to support on-going research related work to update and disseminate pain management prescribing guidelines. This will include assisting with literature reviews, evidence synthesis and guideline development. This position will also provide administrative support, including coordinating meetings and schedules, liaising with stakeholders, and drafting and editing documents and guidelines.Your responsibilities will include: Conducting literature review Analyzing data collected for publications and/or presentations use Liaising with agencies, collaborators, industry sponsors, faculty and other stakeholders Writing research summaries for reporting purposes Creating and editing documents Coordinating meeting schedules, agendas, materials, action and follow-up items Taking and distributing meeting minutes Formatting research results to be presentable and easily comprehensible Essential Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in health sciences, public health, health policy, or related field or acceptable combination of equivalent experience. Minimum two years of experience in research coordination, project management or academic administration. Demonstrated experience with coordinating literature reviews, evidence synthesis, or guideline development. Experience creating and editing educational or digital materials, and statistical report and summaries. Strong writing, formatting, editing, and organizational skills. Ability to communicate effectively with interdisciplinary clinical groups, both verbally and written, with effective interpersonal skills. High attention to detail and capacity to manage multiple deadlines. Familiarity with knowledge mobilization or KT/I science. Strong data management and analytical skills. Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Ability to assess information, utilize critical thinking and synthesize information from multiple sources Ability to work both independently as well as collaboratively within cross-disciplinary teams Assets (Nonessential): Experience with clinical guideline methodologies (ADAPTE, GRADE, AGREE-II). Experience working with dental, surgical, pain, or public health sectors.
