Lab Description: The Advanced Molecular Diagnostics Laboratory (AMD) at Toronto’s Mount Sinai Hospital (MSH), Sinai Health System, is a clinically certified laboratory that conducts molecular diagnostic testing for the Greater Toronto Area and the province of Ontario and serves as an international reference centre for molecular diagnostics. Position Overview: The Research Assistant supports clinical and/or research projects within the Advanced Molecular Diagnostics Laboratory under the supervision of the Principal Investigator and/or Research Coordinator. This role supports with the day‑to‑day execution of research activities, including participant‑facing tasks, data collection, documentation, and administrative support. Experience in genetic and genomic research is an asset. Job Responsibilities: Assist with the coordination of research studies, including supporting day‑to‑day study activities Consenting participants for research study Assist in the preparation and maintenance of study materials (e.g., protocols, questionnaires, data forms, study manuals) Support participant screening, recruitment, and scheduling activities as per protocol Travel to affiliated hospitals, clinics, and community recruitment sites (e.g., Brampton, Baycrest) to support participant recruitment and study activities Assist with data collection, entry, documentation, and quality control activities Provide administrative support, including preparing reports, tracking documentation, and processing reimbursements Contribute to literature reviews, manuscript preparation, grant applications, and REB submissions, as appropriate Maintain accurate study records in accordance with Good Documentation Practices Participate in regular meetings with the research team to provide updates on assigned tasks Assist with onboarding and training of students or new team members Communicate with internal teams and external sites under the guidance of the PI or Research Coordinator Education & Experience Requirements: University/college degree (life science); MSc; or higher degree considered Experience in research and/or clinical role preferred Functional Job Requirements: Experience in participant recruitment, data collection, and research support activities Strong ability to exercise sound judgment, exercise considerable independence and initiative Excellent leadership skills. Strong ability to work in a multi‑disciplinary team in a cooperative manner Exceptional communication skills (verbal, written and presentation) and be comfortable engaging and exchanging information with a multi‑disciplinary team Demonstrated analytical and problem solving abilities with strong attention to detail Demonstrated knowledge of standard software (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, etc.) Bioinformatic experience is a plus but not required (Python or other) Hands on knowledge of Good Documentation Practices Must demonstrate satisfactory work performance and attendance record Data analysis and genetic variant interpretation skills preferred Pay range: \$28.154 - \$31.997 / hr In accordance with Institute’s policy and legislated health and safety requirements, employment is conditional upon the verification of credentials, completion of a health review, and demonstrating proof of immunity and vaccination status of vaccine‑preventable diseases.
