Reporting to the Executive Vice President, GIP Materials Engineering the Terminal Process Design and Engineering Manager will work across the Company with terminals to design, guide and manage engineering designs .


Key Responsibilities include :


  • Coordinate and interact directly with terminal service providers, equipment suppliers, design and engineering service contractors, electrical, mechanical and construction contractors as well as state and local agencies (as required for terminal permits and expansions), etc.
  • Accountable for successful development and execution of projects to support the terminal facilities and manufacturing operations.
  • Accountable for project execution from inception to completion
  • Manage and Coordinate project approvals, engineering design, procurement, construction, budgeting and assists with staff in commissioning and facility or process startup.
  • Solicit project requirements from GIP stakeholders and develop the project basis of design to meet desired requirements
  • Develop the facility standard for materials and design that best supports the Operations team including timely reviews with management and facility stakeholders to ensure that desired outcomes and timelines are met.
  • Manage and direct internal E&I staff as well as any required external contract engineering services.
  • Support executive management as well as commercial and business development in the review process of potential new terminal locations, facility acquisitions, and review of third party facility lease assets to ensure they meet company integrity and operational capabilities at the most effective cost of operation
  • Support operations, terminals and production locations, to assist in rolling out new technologies to ensure project design and mechanical integrity provide desired production outcomes.
  • Evaluate assets and processes to help ensure costs are minimized and efficiency targets are optimized.
  • Review processes for best safety practices, environmental stewardship, maximum profitability, energy efficiency and operational effectiveness. .
  • Provide field and project support to operations and production facilities as needed.
  • Work directly with local operational staff and assist them in the assumption of accountability for site specific project development, budgeting, project execution, engineering and maintenance as needed to ensure success of projects at their individual locations.
  • Lead staff in working with Operations and production facilities staff to help resolve engineering, equipment and reliability issues.
  • Support the Safety, Environmental and Incident Investigation support representative. Share experiences and solutions to ensure continued safety and environmentally friendly operations for our employees, contractors and customers.
  • Ensure financial responsibility of processes and budget development.
  • Lead staff and work directly with Technical and R&D, groups, as well as Operational teams in developing systems which use data to optimize production and formulations of products.
  • Any other duties as assigned.


Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Mechanical or Civil Engineering.
  • 5+ years of experience in petroleum terminal operations and construction field is preferred. Field experience will be considered in partial lieu of a degree.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and have a good driving record.
  • Registered Professional Engineer is an asset.
  • Auto CAD and Preventive Maintenance Systems certificate is an asset.
  • Strong background in asphalt storage, blending and manufacturing operations and asset maintenance including turnarounds, preventive maintenance, rack automation, steam and hot oil process heating systems, operations process training, process safety management, environmental and petroleum terminal operations management.
  • Experience managing relationships and permitting processes with Provincial and Federal representatives and other regulatory agencies
  • Results-driven with focus on delivering success in a fast- paced environment.
