Lead Specialist - IT SQL Services at Parkland Corporation (Parkland Corporation acquired by Sunoco LP as of November 1, 2025). The Opportunity This position has responsibility for the maintenance, troubleshooting, and administration of the organization's SQL Server Infrastructure (2016 and later). It includes supporting MS Windows failover clustering and SQL Server HA solutions. The person in this position will work closely with members of the IT staff to ensure very high levels of SQL database availability. Responsibilities Design and implement database structures. Establish backup and recovery procedures. Create users and assign privileges. Monitor performance and tune databases. Plan and monitor capacity. Implement replication and backup strategies. Ensure data security and integrity. Create and maintain documentation. Set up and maintain SQL HA solutions. Troubleshoot SQL issues. Automate and script processes. Participate in the 24/7 on‑call rotation for emergencies or operational assistance. Education Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems or a related technical discipline. Requirements 8+ years of SQL server related experience. In-depth knowledge of Windows Failover clustering and SQL Server HA solutions. Effective written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills to work in a team environment. Strong dedication to quality customer service and superior telephone etiquette. Sensitivity to changing priorities and willingness to accept constantly changing priorities. Good written and oral communication skills; ability to articulate complex database concepts to non‑technical stakeholders. Sharp analytical thinking to diagnose and resolve complex database issues. Ability to analyze data trends and prevent potential problems before they arise. Strong leadership skills. Strong collaborative skills with the team and cross‑functional teams. Strong project and time‑management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and keep work on track. Strong understanding of IT service management (change/incident/problem). Additional Skills and Knowledge Ansible, LiteSpeed, Foglight, ITIL, ServiceNow, Advanced SQL clustering, SQL 2022 performance diagnostics and Tuning, Agentic AI. Experience with other database types (Oracle, MySQL, Couchbase, Cassandra, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, AWS RDS/NoSQL) a plus. Proficient with PowerShell.
