Location: This position may be based in either Vancouver, BC or Calgary, AB office. What you will deliver Provide subject matter expertise on security and life safety operations and technologies to internal and external stakeholders on issues such as threat and risk assessments, security and life safety business practices and models, financial accountability, performance standards and continual improvement, and related technologies Review and approve final documents related to annual expenditures on security contracts before final sign-off by the respective Vice President Operations or Portfolio Managers Ensure annual expenditures align with company security operating strategies, business models and technology standards prior to review and approval of security technology business cases for final sign-off by the General Manager Develop and implement broad policies and procedures relating to security operations, security guard behaviours and other matters critical to safe and secure management of properties and community environments Initiate and oversee investigative efforts in concert with Internal Audit and Human Resources to mitigate risks affecting the integrity and reputation of the corporation Provide project leadership and scope-approval authority for larger-scale security and life safety projects with a focus on continuous improvement and value maximization Oversee execution and evaluate the scope of work of security service contracts (up to $5 million in annual costs across 60% of CF properties) to ensure property-level performance meets national standards and aligns with corporate expectations on use of force and other indicators Develop measures and oversee the delivery of efficiency and effectiveness in security technologies, ensuring installations comply with national standards and deliver on strategic objectives Prepare projections and costs for physical security and security technology for annual operating expenditures and 10-year capital plans Work with the Vice President, Operations to set annual performance objectives for all security and life safety managers Oversee and execute security strategy implementation through liaison with senior portfolio and property management to ensure consistent service delivery and financial effectiveness Develop and articulate best and emerging practices in security and life safety aligned with corporate objectives Review internal business processes related to security operating practices, emergency management, fire safety, health and safety, and business continuity; implement policy and procedural changes to close gaps and improve effectiveness What your strengths are Technical Skills Knowledge of threat and risk assessment methods Strong knowledge of security technology systems, including CCTV and Access Control Understanding of applicable federal, provincial and municipal legislation and major court rulings related to security/life safety management Experience in managing contracted security & life safety services Background in collective bargaining agreements Knowledge of industry trends in security/life safety Proficiency in basic accounting and development/administration of capital and operational budgets Proficient with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and other business platforms Strong reporting and business proposal writing skills Excellent public speaking and presentation skills Interpersonal Skills Exceptional written and verbal communication skills Ability to interact with senior management internally and externally Strong problem solving, analytical and decision-making skills Strong organizational, prioritization and time management skills Ability to delegate and follow up effectively Tact and diplomacy at all levels Team player; flexible and adaptable with diverse people and situations Ability to work in a challenging, fast-paced, multi-tasked environment What you need to succeed Must qualify for and achieve a Level II Government of Canada security clearance University degree in any discipline Minimum 10 years in a commercial security/life safety environment, with increasing responsibility Minimum 5 years of security/life safety management experience, ideally in a large, complex facility Professional security industry accreditation (e.g., CPP, ASP, PSP) acceptable Graduate-level or specialized studies in security-, emergency-, risk-based discipline or equivalent business discipline is an asset Starting base salary for this job level may range from $122,823.00 to $160,000.00. Actual base salary will consider factors including role, experience, skills, location, market and internal considerations; Cadillac Fairview reserves the right to pay above this range.
