The Royal Inland Hospital (RIH) is a 273‑bed tertiary hub and Level 1 Trauma Centre serving approximately 250,000 people in the Thompson‑Cariboo‑Shuswap Health Service Area, with 72,000 ED visits and over 250 major trauma cases per year. The new Phil and Jennie Gaglardi Tower, opened in 2022, houses child and adolescent mental‑health, substance‑use inpatient units, and a 30‑bed general psychiatric unit. Position Overview As a hospitalist at RIH, you will inspire hope and compassionate care across a diverse case mix that engages your clinical skills and critical thinking. You will manage an array of conditions— from chronic illnesses and acute issues to complex geriatric and trauma cases—providing compassionate care across the lifespan and coordinating specialty care for pediatric, adult, and elderly patients. You will serve the varied needs of our richly diverse population, including Indigenous communities and new Canadians. Your supportive team environment will empower you to excel alongside experienced hospitalist colleagues, with mentorship, continuous professional development, and interdisciplinary collaboration. Key Responsibilities Provide compassionate care across the lifespan and coordinate specialty care for pediatric, adult, and elderly patients. Manage an array of conditions, from chronic diseases and acute issues to complex geriatric and trauma cases. Serve the varied needs of a diverse population, including Indigenous communities and new Canadians. Participate in interdisciplinary rounds and regular collaborations to analyze complex cases. Engage in mentoring, teaching, and continuing education, including CME reimbursement and oversight of residents and students. Compensation Compensation type: Clinical Service Contract. Estimated remuneration for a full‑time hospitalist: $336,162.00 plus MOCAP Level 2. Physician overhead: $3.48 per hour worked. Benefits and Incentives Vacation leave: scheduling allows effortless relaxation. Relocation funding: $9,000 for moves within BC, $12,000 within Canada, and $15,000 for those relocating from outside Canada. Additional incentives include: Quality Incentive (up to an additional 10% of the total hours worked) Coverage Incentive (up to an additional 10% of the total hours worked) Volume Incentive (20% rate premium on base APSA rate for hours worked during periods of overcapacity). Incentives are subject to change and confirmed at the time of the offer.
