Overview Job Title: Abdominal Transplant Surgeon Work Site: Vancouver General Hospital Status: Full-Time Start Date: June 1, 2026 Compensation Type: Fee-for-Service Organization: Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) and affiliation with Vancouver General Hospital (VGH), UBC Department of Surgery, Division of General Surgery, and the HPB & Abdominal Transplant Surgery program. Responsibilities The successful candidate will become a member of the UBC & VGH Division of General Surgery, and the HPB & Liver, Pancreas and Islet Transplant program. Responsibilities include: Developing research and protocols for clinical outcomes and/or educational initiatives related to HPB surgery and/or liver, pancreas and islet transplantation. Maintaining a clinical appointment with the UBC Faculty of Medicine, Department of Surgery. Participating in medical student, resident, and fellow teaching. Qualifications Formal training in abdominal transplant and HPB surgery, such as a fellowship at ASTS and AHPBA certified fellowship or equivalent training. Eligible for licensure in the province of British Columbia. Graduate degree (Masters or equivalent) and a background in outcomes research are preferred. Formal training in deceased donor liver transplantation, live donor liver transplantation, pancreas, and islet transplantation, as well as open and minimally invasive HPB surgery, is an asset.
