Primary Purpose


The MBA Capstone Coordinator will oversee the administration and execution of the MBA Capstone program, ensuring that it aligns with the academic goals and standards of the department. This role involves coordinating with capstone course leads, faculty, the Career Development Center Unit, students, and external partners. The coordinator will also be managing project budgets, ensuring the successful completion of Capstone projects, and be responsible for continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the program's effectiveness and relevance.


Specific Responsibilities


Program Coordination:

  • Oversee the planning, implementation, and evaluation of the MBA Capstone program
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for students, course leads, faculty, and external stakeholders involved in capstone projects
  • Develop and maintain a schedule of capstone project milestones and deadlines


Budget Management:

  • Help develop and manage the budget for the Marketing, Strategy, and Entrepreneurship department (MSE)
  • Monitor expenditures and ensure compliance with the allocated budget
  • Prepare financial reports and provide recommendations for cost efficiencies


Student Support:

  • Provide guidance and support to MBA students throughout their capstone projects i.e. ensuring communication to students is sent out on time
  • Facilitate workshops and seminars to assist students with project planning, execution, and presentation skills
  • Coordinate with academic advisors to ensure students meet project requirements


Partnership Development:

  • Establish and maintain relationships with industry partners and stakeholders to secure capstone project opportunities
  • Collaborate with external partners to align capstone projects with real-world business challenges


Quality Assurance:

  • Ensure capstone projects meet academic and professional standards
  • Implement evaluation criteria and assessment tools to measure project outcomes and student performance
  • Collect feedback from students, faculty, and partners to continuously improve the capstone program


Communication and Reporting:

  • Prepare and disseminate program updates and reports to the department and stakeholders
  • Organize and lead meetings related to the capstone program


Administrative Duties:

  • Manage project documentation, including proposals, contracts, and final reports
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and project outcomes


Position Requirements


Education and Experience:


  • A master’s degree in business administration, education, or a related field is an asset
  • At least 3-5 years of experience in program coordination or project management, preferably in an academic setting
  • Experience with budget management and financial reporting
  • Experience in building and maintaining partnerships with industry stakeholders


Competencies:

  • Possesses strong organizational and multitasking abilities
  • Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Can work in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency in project management software and tools
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups
