Overview Senior Electrical Distribution Engineer – Candidate Pool. The role is based out of Vancouver, British Columbia, or other major centers across Canada (including Vancouver, Kelowna, Calgary, Edmonton, Regina, GTA, Montreal area or Quebec City area). The Senior Electrical Distribution Engineer provides technical expertise for electrical distribution infrastructure (poles, wires, vault, duct bank, and cable) in accordance with client standards, engineering principles, guidelines, policies, and safety standards. Note: This is a candidate pool; the process may vary and is open-ended. Our Talent Acquisition team will review applications and contact you at the appropriate time, if applicable. Primary Responsibilities Support the efficient and effective day-to-day operation of the distribution team from response to service requests to project delivery Develop design work packages with scope, schedule and effort estimates Resolve design and field engineering problems by conducting independent studies and analysis, exercising independent judgment in selecting and interpreting information, and recommending safe engineering designs to support successful operations and/or project completion Deliver exceptional customer service by communicating with stakeholders and performing activities such as defining the scope of Distribution engineering services, establishing basic design criteria with the client, approving technical documentation, and assessing and reporting on work progress against standards, objectives, and specifications to support project completion safely, with quality, within budget and on time Provide specialized expertise in Distribution and actively mentor, coach, and set high standards for work performance, influencing the establishment of standards, frameworks, and targets for junior members of the team Exercise innovation to propose creative modifications to improve work processes, guidelines, instructions, procedures and standards where possible Design overhead line structures and associated facilities for voltages up to 35kV in an electric utility environment, including equipment supports/foundations, termination structures, manholes/vaults, duct banks Qualifications 10+ years experience in an engineering role with specific Distribution knowledge, ideally within British Columbia P.Eng designation or eligible to become a P.Eng with EGBC Experience working with utilities in Western Canada Experience related to expertise in Overhead and underground electric utility distribution systems operating at voltages at or below 35kV and in the electrical, mechanical, civil, and operating requirements of components used to build such systems Good communications skills to articulate and discuss technical options and present proposed solutions to a wide range of audiences Familiarity with GIS, CAD systems and drawing standards Ability to use standard industry design/analysis software such as SPIDAcalc and PLS-CADD Ability to work with remote partners and team members; maintain effective working relationships with clients, staff, and other employees Available for occasional travel (mostly within Western Canada) Salary and Location The expected salary for this position is from $105,440 to $140,000 based on experience and internal equity.
