Job Summary:
Innovative Research Group is seeking an experienced and dynamic HR and Operations Manager to join our growing team. Reporting to the VP of Operations, this new role will be a key player in our 25-person company, leading all aspects of human resources management while supporting the oversight of the company’s operations. You will help create a people-first culture while driving efficiencies and optimizing day-to-day operations for the firm. This role will be a hybrid one with 3 days remote and 2 days based in the company’s Toronto office located at Yonge St/King St.
Key Responsibilities:
1) Human Resources Management (50%)
- Oversee the entire employee lifecycle: recruiting, onboarding, performance management, and offboarding.
- Develop and implement HR policies and procedures that foster a positive, inclusive work environment.
- Manage employee benefits, payroll, and compliance with labor regulations.
- Facilitate training and development programs, ensuring career growth opportunities for employees.
- Serve as a go-to resource for employee relations, addressing concerns and managing conflict resolutions.
2) Operations Management (30%)
- Streamline and enhance internal processes to improve efficiency and productivity across the company. Help identify and implement a new time tracking, budget, expense and resource management software platform to help automate and streamline financial and resource management systems and processes.
- Oversee office management functions, including vendor relationships, supplies, and equipment management.
- Collaborate with senior management to establish KPIs and track operational performance.
- Lead initiatives to optimize workflow, project management tools, and cross-departmental collaboration.
- Ensure company compliance with industry standards, data security, and operational protocols.
- Help support VP of Operations and/or bookkeeper on budgeting or invoicing matters
3) Culture and People Development (20%)
- Champion a culture of innovation, collaboration, and well-being within the organization.
- Organize team-building activities, events, and wellness programs to enhance employee engagement.
- Create and maintain an open feedback culture, enabling continuous improvement and communication.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 4-5 years of experience in HR and operations roles within small to mid-sized companies, ideally within another professional services organization; minimum 2 years of experience working in Canada.
- Passion for people, organizational culture, and operational excellence.
- Strong knowledge of employment law, HR best practices, and operations management principles.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a proactive and solutions-oriented mindset.
- Ability to juggle multiple responsibilities, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience with HR software and project management tools is a plus.
