Reporting to the VP, Channels & Emerging Business Models (EBM) Technology, the AVP, Digital Technology Platforms works in partnership with key stakeholders to design and leverage next generation digital technology solutions (e.g. Online Services (OLS), Cooperators.ca, National Quote & Buy) that support the organization’s growth strategy. The role plays a critical role in the ‘plan-build-run’ functions of the Technology operating model and future solution offerings, including the implementation and support of innovative products and applications that engage clients through self-serve / digital channels (e.g. online, mobile). How You Will Create Impact Proactively identifying strategies and initiatives that will enhance service, reduce costs, and resolve potential blockers. Additionally, leading efforts to identify technical opportunities to improve processes, delivery, and usability. Supporting the development of the digital technology roadmap, from strategy through to delivery and ongoing maintenance of various technologies (e.g. Angular, JS, Sitecore CMS). This includes leveraging AI and AI solutions to advance both development productivity and business outcomes. Leading an effective Digital technology organization that incorporates best practices for delivering timely and cost-effective solutions to our clients. Including, overseeing operations for the responsible platforms, including end-user availability, performance, security, application currency, and regulatory compliance. Platforms include Cooperators.ca, National Quote & Buy (NQB), Online Services (OLS), Co-op Mobile, Claims eFNOL, etc. Leveraging deep knowledge for technology project delivery, oversee a portfolio of projects and programs and ensuring the effective delivery of technical solutions to meet business strategic, tactical needs, and project delivery metrics. Ensuring sufficient vendor research and vendor vetting processes, and that software solution purchases or partnerships meet the needs of the business unit and are aligned to internal technology standards. Motivationally empowering across teams with an internal development excellence mindset for application upgrades and new applications development to ensure quality solutions provided meet the needs of business partners. Collaborating with various enterprise businesses (e.g. Property & Casualty), Digital and other stakeholders to define business plans and develop advanced technology solutions that support growth objectives. Manage and maintain strategic and collaborative relationships with vendors and additional key external partner organizations to support exceptional development and delivery of products and services. This will include managing vendor relationships and negotiations, contract management, establishing suitable service level agreements and controls to ensure compliance with risk, security, and guidelines. Managing the financial and business performance of the organization, including setting appropriate department-wide goals, KPIs and associated targets. Leading and engaging your team to deliver strategic objectives through the evolvement of effective coaching and mentoring, identifying and developing emerging talent, and fostering an innovative, collaborative, and agile culture. To Join Our Team You have 10 years of progressive-related experience, including multiple years of expertise across the plan-build-run technology spectrum. You have a Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or another field of study with relevant experience. You have in-depth custom digital solution development experience, ideally within the financial services industry. Recent experience leading AI adoption and innovation, particularly in support of development productivity, is an asset. You have experience leading the planning and successful execution of complex technology projects and/or initiatives. You have demonstrated experience collaborating with internal and external stakeholders. Including vendor relationship management, participating in vendor contract negotiations, and partnering with stakeholders to review services provided. You have the financial acumen to interpret and make decisions impacting projects and technology operations. You have applied experience in financial service and/or insurance. Having an understanding of digital distribution channels is an asset. You are an experienced people leader, well-skilled in leading sizable teams to solve complex problems and operate innovatively in an engaged collaborative environment. Expected Salary Range: $131,124 -- $218,540 The salary amount for the successful candidate is determined by Co-operators in its discretion and will vary depending on several criteria including but not limited to: local market conditions, geography and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualification, experience and education. Employees may also have the opportunity to participate in incentive programs and earn additional compensation tied to individual and/or business performance, or other business metrics.
