We are looking for our next Regulatory Affairs Specialist. Could it be you?
Reporting to the Regulatory Affairs Manager, the Specialist, Regulatory Affairs ensures effective implementation and management of the regulatory affairs systems, programs and procedures for the business. You'll advise and provide regulatory guidance to internal business units on new product innovation, regulatory interpretation, claim validation and the promotion of nutritional attributes. You'll also help to coordinate the activities of the Regulatory Affairs team and liaise closely with other functional areas of the Compliance team, as well as the Product Development team.

What you'll be doing...
- Developing and maintaining accurate food labelling information for finished products (e.g., allergens, nutrition, ingredient statements, product name, claims) to assure compliance with regulations.
- Monitoring and maintaining up-to-date knowledge of current regulations, food labelling regulatory activity, and relevant technical product and processing information.
- Communicating and providing advice on industry regulations and amendments.
- Developing the copy deck template for artwork, reviewing artwork for regulatory compliance, and approving packaging.
- Participating in Front-of-Pack labelling evaluation, analysis, and all requirements for execution.
- Participating in meetings to coordinate product launch deadlines, packaging material approval and finalising product specs.
- Responding to technical questions from suppliers and stores. Provide answers to labeling compliance-related questions.
- Providing critical review of promotional material to ensure compliance with federal and provincial regulations.
- Participating in developing and updating appropriate food labeling policies and procedures as needed.
- Managing product specifications and documents of new and existing products in TraceGains.
- Ensuring specifications are complete and uploaded to Trace Gains prior to launch.
- Creating or update PIMs (product information management system) as needed.
- Managing the active list of Gluten-Free, Kosher and Vegetarian products.
- Supporting the Finance team in performing additional tasks as required.
- Performing other duties as required.
What we'd like you to bring...
- Degree/diploma in Food Safety, Food Science, or related field
- Experience in Food Quality Management Systems and Specification Management systems.
- Minimum of 3 years working in a food regulatory affairs role.
- Experience in working in a GFSI accredited facility.
- Strong organizational and planning skills; detail oriented.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills; multi-task and prioritize tasks.
- Proficient with MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and product databases.
- A working knowledge of French is an asset.
- Previous experience with Genesis and Nutracoaster databases is considered an asset.
- Performance-driven, critical thinker, who is results driven with a proactive mindset and the ability to thrive in a dynamic environment.
- Strong communication skills are critical, as is the ability to effectively partner with others and build strong working relationships.
- A high level of proficiency with computer databases and systems and/or ability to learn new systems.
- This position is hybrid work (min 2 days per week in office) and 10% travel expected.
