Our client is a major North American energy company, based in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, that develops and operates energy infrastructure in Canada, the United States, and Mexico. The company operates three core businesses: Natural Gas Pipelines, Liquids Pipelines and Energy.
Your new role
Considered a junior administrative support role, resolves issues of a routine nature working under general supervision. Building a strong relationship with our business partners by developing an in-depth understanding of their business needs and processes. Keeping current products available for remote communications, (e.g. Internet services, encryption software, security software) and developing innovative, cost-effective compatible solutions for our client's remote sites. Working closely with all departments within our client to ensure solution execution and problem resolution. Resolving network related escalated incidents and problems to a successful and timely conclusion
What you'll need to succeed
The Junior Network Security Technician is responsible for the day-to-day monitoring, maintenance, and troubleshooting of the organization's Palo Alto Network Security infrastructure. This role provides support to the Network Security team and assists in ensuring the overall security and availability of the company's critical systems.
Key Responsibilities:
• Monitor and analyze logs, alerts, and events generated by Palo Alto Networks firewalls, next-generation firewalls (NGFWs), and related security tools
• Perform routine configuration changes, updates, and patches on Palo Alto Networks devices, following established change management processes
• Assist in the implementation and deployment of new Palo Alto Networks security solutions, including firewalls, VPNs, and advanced threat prevention features
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to Palo Alto Networks security devices, such as connectivity problems, policy conflicts, and performance degradation
• Collaborate with the Network Security, Network Designers and Network Operations teams to remediate incidents and work through requests related to firewall rules
• Maintain comprehensive documentation on the configuration and operation of the Palo Alto Networks security environment
• Participate in regular security reviews, audits, and compliance activities related to the Palo Alto Networks security controls
