The Analyst will also participate in vendor negotiations in the procurement of software licences, subscriptions and maintenance contracts ensuring NAV CANADA receives the best value available as well as provide software licensing knowledge to team members, Technology Organization colleagues and clients**Job Description****What NAV CANADA offers you:*** Challenging, team-oriented work environment* Competitive compensation and flexible benefits* Defined benefit pension plan* Opportunities for growth and development* Flexible work arrangements* Diverse and inclusive workforce**Key Accountabilities:*** Consult with Technology Organization colleagues and clients to understand, validate, and cost the software licensing requirements of new initiatives, ensuring solutions are in a state of license compliance.* Oversee vendors to obtain software quotes and prepare cost and feature comparisons; negotiate favourable contract terms (e.g., discounts) and communicate NAV CANADA contract terms and conditions.* Under Manager’s direction, participate in responses to vendor license audits.* Track and prepare software renewals ensuring that deadlines and contract terms are met.* Conduct compliance reviews of software use within NAV CANADA, identifying exposures and recommend appropriate remediation to ensure the company continues to meet its software legal and contractual obligations.* Investigate and identify areas of software under-utilization and propose strategies for cost avoidance through license harvesting activities.* Identify opportunities for the continuous improvement of Software Asset Management (SAM) processes and procedures.* Maintain software information in existing systems, such as SharePoint, Excel, and Software Asset Management tool.* Provide back-up during absence of the Senior Software Asset Management Analyst.**Job Requirements****Education:*** Graduation from a recognized institution with a degree in Business or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.**Experience:*** 3 to 5 years' experience performing software asset management activities such as analysis of business requirements, preparing, analyzing, and reporting financial information.* Experience providing software expertise and guidance to clients ranging from end-user support to senior management.* Experience tracking, identifying and renewing software agreements including obtaining software quotes and preparing cost and feature comparisons.* Experience conducting compliance reviews, identifying exposures, and propose appropriate remediation to ensure compliance with legal and contractual obligations.* Experience negotiating contract terms, conditions, and pricing with vendors.**Knowledge:*** Knowledge of major software vendor licensing and maintenance programs (e.g., Microsoft, IBM, ServiceNow, Workday etc.)* Knowledge of software asset management best practices* Knowledge across the spectrum of IT technologies, including business applications, infrastructure, client computing and service delivery models, as they pertain to software licensing models.* Knowledge of the Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) framework and, specifically, knowledge of the Service Support processes (Incident Management, Problem Management, Change Management, Release Management and Configuration Management) and their relationships.* Knowledge of accounting principles, including variance analysis techniques.**Abilities:*** Ability to negotiate and maintain vendor agreements and contracts.* Ability to participate in one or more active projects and/or assignments effectively.* Ability to develop process documentation and training materials.* Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.* Ability to work with minimal supervision, and to organize time and workload effectively.* Ability to identify and resolve complex and varied problems.**Personal Suitability:*** Excellent customer service and relationship building skills.* Develops effective and positive interpersonal relationships through respect for others, fairness, tact, effective expression, and open communication.* Demonstrates initiative, integrity, flexibility, timely judgment, reliability, dependability, thoroughness, service orientation and a positive attitude.* Promotes teamwork, safety, quality, excellence, achievement, responsiveness, and continuous learning.**Working Conditions:*** This position is based at Ottawa Technical Services Centre (TSC)* This position is a hybrid position with a minimum – 3 day(s) per week on site in Ottawa.NAV CANADA is committed to building a skilled, diverse workforce reflective of Canadian society.
