Intent of the Process This inventory will be used to establish pools of qualified candidates for future needs in the Prairie and Northern Regions at Transport Canada. Pools may be used to staff other similar positions of various tenures and linguistic profiles at Transport Canada. Positions to be filled: Number to be determined Information You Must Provide Essential Qualifications Education Secondary school diploma or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience. Occupational Certification At minimum, one of the following qualifications: Valid Aviation Document Booklet AND Category 1 Aviation Medical AND Canadian Airline Transport Pilot Licence – Aeroplane Category with Group 1 Instrument Rating AND Restricted Radio‑Telephone Operator Certificate (endorsed Aeronautical). Valid Aviation Document Booklet AND Category 1 Aviation Medical AND Canadian Airline Transport Pilot Licence – Helicopter Category with Group IV Instrument Rating AND Restricted Radio‑Telephone Operator Certificate (endorsed Aeronautical). Valid Aviation Document Booklet AND Category 1 Aviation Medical AND Canadian Commercial Pilot Licence – Helicopter Category with Group IV Instrument Rating AND Restricted Radio‑Telephone Operator Certificate (endorsed Aeronautical). Minimum Flight Time At minimum, one of the following: 2,500 hours including 1,000 hours PIC with 500 hours in multi‑engine aeroplanes. 2,500 hours including 1,000 hours PIC with 500 hours in medium/heavy category helicopters. 3,000 hours including 1,500 hours PIC with 500 hours in multi‑engine aeroplanes. 3,000 hours including 1,500 hours PIC with 500 hours in multi‑engine helicopters. 3,000 hours including 1,500 hours PIC with 500 hours in single‑engine turbine‑powered aeroplanes. 3,000 hours including 1,500 hours PIC in multi‑engine turbo‑jet transport aeroplanes (maximum certified take‑off gross weight ≥ 50,000 lbs). Experience Minimum 3 years of experience within the last 6 years as a pilot with a Canadian Air Operator, Private Operator (CAR 604), Flight Training Unit or in the Canadian Military. Other Qualifications (Optional) Education Degree from a recognized post‑secondary institution; Bachelor’s degree or higher with specialization in aeronautical, mechanical or electrical engineering or computer sciences; Post‑secondary education in an aviation or related program. Occupational Certification Canadian Class 1 Flight Instructor Rating – Aeroplane or Canadian Forces Instructor Category – Aeroplane; Canadian Class 1 Flight Instructor Rating – Helicopter or Canadian Forces Instructor Category – Helicopter; Valid Canadian Class 1 Flight Instructor Rating – Helicopter (ATPL‑H); etc. Experience Experience in training lessons, as a training pilot, as a Class 1 Aerobatics Instructor, in regulatory environments, applying legislation, exercising Ministerial Authority, assessing compliance, enforcing statutes, as a Civil Aviation Safety Inspector, as an Approved Check Pilot, as a Pilot Examiner, developing policies, helicopter offshore operations, using Flight Management Systems, conducting long‑line operations, working with Electronic Flight Instrument Systems, global operations, advanced technology aircraft, risk management, Quality Assurance, supervising teams, operations management, writing manuals, remote piloted aircraft systems, etc. Operational Requirements Willing and able to travel to local, national and international destinations. Willing and able to travel via all modes of transportation to remote and/or isolated locations. Willing and able to work in an aviation environment (noise, fumes, hazards). Willing and able to work overtime, irregular hours and weekends. Conditions of Employment Secret security clearance. Must hold a Canadian Airline Transport Pilot Licence or Canadian Commercial Pilot Licence – Helicopter Category with Group IV Instrument Rating (currency requirements apply). Must hold a valid passport for international travel. Must hold a valid driver’s licence. Willingness and ability to maintain professional aviation currency.
