Test Engineer

We collaborate with customers to ensure mission success and offer technologies including sonar, radar, expendables, signature management, and naval power systems. The Test Engineer works with Design Engineering, Quality Assurance and Production Support to design, monitor and optimize the manufacturing processes for existing and new product lines. They provide tactical support in determining the operations required for verification and test of products as well as implementing cost-saving process improvements. Nationality Requirements Candidates must be eligible to obtain the relevant security clearance required for the role, due to the nature of the programmes we deliver for our customers. Key Responsibilities Evaluate new product designs and advise on their suitability for test Support production in lead time improvements and test time reduction using Continuous Improvement methodologies Designing new processes, procedures and test systems. Take a lead role in implementing including training of Shop Floor employees and Support Staff Apply working knowledge of product design to the testing process Development, design and implementation of Production Test Sets, Jigs, and Fixtures improving safety, product quality and testing efficiency Develop standardized design criteria across product lines and participate in design reviews ensuring that Design for Testability Principles are applied Responding to process failures including root cause analysis Developing, modifying and updating work instructions required to test product Support product non-conformance investigation Identify root cause of failures and make recommendation for corrective actions Carry out periodical process review and identify root causes of any deficiencies and ensure corrective action to eliminate the source Investigate new techniques and equipment to ensure the Company’s testing philosophy incorporates relevant current best practice Act as a change agent within production to educate and influence team members on process implementation and improvements Qualifications Required Skills Degree in Industrial, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, or other Engineering discipline with significant testing experience Experience working as a Test Engineer or similar role in an industrial environment Must be able to gain the appropriate Canadian government security clearance and satisfy all requirements to work on Canadian Controlled Goods projects Desired Skills Continuous improvement techniques such as LEAN, Six-Sigma and TQM Work measurement and standardization Experience within aerospace and defence is a distinct advantage In-depth understanding of Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and Visio ERP systems competency including development of routings and Bill of Material structures Strong technical writing ability. Previous experience writing test procedures and work instructions Familiarity with 3D CAD drawing packages (SolidWorks preferred) Competency in LabVIEW Strong data analysis abilities, including Statistical Process Control Understanding of Engineering Change Control processes Interpreting engineering drawings, schematics, and other documentation Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Willing to learn quickly, be agile, and innovate to solve complex problems What’s in it for you?
