We collaborate with customers to ensure mission success and offer technologies including sonar, radar, expendables, signature management, and naval power systems.The Test Engineer works with Design Engineering, Quality Assurance and Production Support to design, monitor and optimize the manufacturing processes for existing and new product lines. They provide tactical support in determining the operations required for verification and test of products as well as implementing cost-saving process improvements.Nationality RequirementsCandidates must be eligible to obtain the relevant security clearance required for the role, due to the nature of the programmes we deliver for our customers.Key ResponsibilitiesEvaluate new product designs and advise on their suitability for testSupport production in lead time improvements and test time reduction using Continuous Improvement methodologiesDesigning new processes, procedures and test systems. Take a lead role in implementing including training of Shop Floor employees and Support StaffApply working knowledge of product design to the testing processDevelopment, design and implementation of Production Test Sets, Jigs, and Fixtures improving safety, product quality and testing efficiencyDevelop standardized design criteria across product lines and participate in design reviews ensuring that Design for Testability Principles are appliedResponding to process failures including root cause analysisDeveloping, modifying and updating work instructions required to test productSupport product non-conformance investigationIdentify root cause of failures and make recommendation for corrective actionsCarry out periodical process review and identify root causes of any deficiencies and ensure corrective action to eliminate the sourceInvestigate new techniques and equipment to ensure the Company’s testing philosophy incorporates relevant current best practiceAct as a change agent within production to educate and influence team members on process implementation and improvementsQualificationsRequired SkillsDegree in Industrial, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, or other Engineering discipline with significant testing experienceExperience working as a Test Engineer or similar role in an industrial environmentMust be able to gain the appropriate Canadian government security clearance and satisfy all requirements to work on Canadian Controlled Goods projectsDesired SkillsContinuous improvement techniques such as LEAN, Six-Sigma and TQMWork measurement and standardizationExperience within aerospace and defence is a distinct advantageIn-depth understanding of Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and VisioERP systems competency including development of routings and Bill of Material structuresStrong technical writing ability.
