They provide tactical support in determining the operations required for verification and test of products as well as implementing cost- savings process improvements.Nationality RequirementsCandidates must be eligible to obtain the relevant security clearance required for the role, due to the nature of the programmes we deliver for our customers.Job DescriptionKey Responsibilities:Evaluate new product designs and advise on their suitability for testSupport production in lead time improvements and test time reduction using Continuous Improvement methodologiesDesign new processes, procedures and test systems. Take a lead role in implementing including training of Shop Floor employees and Support StaffApply working knowledge of product design to the testing processDevelopment, design and implementation of Production Test Sets, Jigs, and Fixtures improving safety, product quality and testing efficiency.Develop standardized design criteria across product lines and participate in design reviews ensuring that Design for Testability Principles are applied.Respond to process failures including root cause analysisDevelop, modify and update work instructions required to test product.Support product non-conformance investigation.Identify root cause of failures and make recommendation for corrective actions.Carry out periodical process review and identify the root cause of any deficiencies found and ensure corrective action takes place to eliminate the source of any deficiency.Investigate new techniques and equipment to ensure that the Company’s testing philosophy incorporates relevant current best practiceAct as a change agent within production to educate and influence team members on process implementation and improvementsRequired Skills:Degree in Industrial, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, or other Engineering discipline with significant testing experienceExperience working as a Test Engineer or similar role in an industrial environmentThe successful person must be able to gain the appropriate Canadian government security clearance and satisfy all requirements to be able to work on Canadian Controlled Goods projectsDesired Skills:Continuous improvement techniques such as LEAN, Six-Sigma and TQMWork measurement and standardizationExperience within aerospace and defence is a distinct advantageIn-depth understanding of Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and VisioCompetency in ERP systems including development of routings and Bill of Material structuresStrong technical writing ability.
