The ideal candidate is an experienced Electrical Design Engineer with 7+ years of expertise in control system hardware design. They will collaborate closely with mechanical designers, project managers, and other engineering teams to develop safe, efficient, and reliable control systems. This role requires onsite presence in Cambridge, Ontario, Canada, and involves designing complete electrical systems, specifying hardware and software, and ensuring compliance with industry standards.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with Mechanical Designers to develop control systems that meet safety and performance requirements.
  • Design detailed electrical schematics, including pneumatic and hydraulic systems, cable routing diagrams, and panel layouts.
  • Prepare bills of materials and material requisitions based on project specifications.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to improve control integration, focusing on safety, functionality, and cost efficiency.
  • Specify and requisition electrical and controls hardware/software.
  • Integrate third-party equipment and electronic components into control system designs.
  • Ensure accuracy, completeness, and safety compliance of all electrical designs before release.
  • Collaborate with customers and internal teams to troubleshoot and resolve electrical design issues.
  • Provide customer training on system hardware, operation, programming principles, and functionality.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • 7-10 years of experience in electrical control system design.
  • Proficiency in electrical schematics, panel layouts, and hardware integration.
  • Strong understanding of network communications, vision systems, motion control, and transducers.
  • Experience with PLC programming, hardware handshaking, and industrial automation.
  • Ability to work onsite in Cambridge, Ontario.
