Role and Facility Information We are seeking two full‑time General Anesthesiologists to join our team at Abbotsford Regional Hospital and Cancer Centre. These vacancies arise from planned increases in elective surgical volumes and staffing changes. Abbotsford Regional Hospital & Cancer Centre (ARHCC) opened in 2008 and is a regional referral and level II trauma centre. The department includes 15 FTE anesthesiologists covering a wide range of surgeries: general surgery, obstetrics (≈2,700 births per year), gynaecology, orthopaedics, plastic surgery, ENT, vascular and dental. Cardiac, thoracic and neurosurgery are not performed. Anesthesiologists are expected to manage pediatric patients aged 4 y and older for elective cases, occasionally 2–4 yr olds for emergencies, and rarely assist with neonatal intubations. Operating room logistics: we run 7–8 ORs for urgent and elective surgery on weekdays; 5 ORs until 1500 hrs, 1 OR until 1700 hrs and after‑hours emergency surgery. Additional out‑of‑OR duties include consults, acute pain service, ECT, cardioversions and emergency calls. Anesthesia services are also provided 2–3 days per week to a secondary OR in the Cancer Agency for brachytherapy (prostate and cervix). The successful candidates will join a departmental on‑call schedule. Responsibilities Provide anesthesia care for a broad spectrum of surgeries at a regional hospital. Manage pediatric anesthesia for patients 4 y and older, occasional younger children and neonatal airway assistance. Operate and support 7–8 operating rooms per day, including urgent, elective and after‑hours cases. Serve out‑of‑OR roles: consults, acute pain service, ECT, cardioversions and emergency calls. Deliver anesthesia for secondary OR brachytherapy sessions (prostate & cervix) 2–3 days per week. Participate in a departmental on‑call rotation. Qualifications Board‑certified or equivalent general anesthesiology training. Experience in a regional hospital setting preferred. Comfortable working with a diverse range of surgical disciplines. Admissible credentials for international medical graduates are welcomed.
