Overview We are seeking two full‑time General Anesthesiologists to join our team at Abbotsford Regional Hospital & Cancer Centre. These vacancies arise from planned increases in elective surgical volumes and staffing changes. Abbotsford Regional Hospital & Cancer Centre is a regional referral centre and level II trauma centre opened in 2008. The department includes 15 full‑time anesthesiologists and covers most surgeries expected of a regional hospital: General Surgery, a busy Obstetrics service (about 2700 births per year), Gynecology, Orthopedics, Plastic Surgery, ENT, Vascular and Dental. Cardiac, Thoracic and Neurosurgery are not performed. Anesthesiologists are expected to provide anesthesia for pediatric patients aged 4 years and older for elective surgery slates, occasional 2‑to‑4‑year‑old patients for emergencies, and rarely airway assistance for neonatal intubations. Responsibilities Run 7‑to‑8 operating rooms each weekday for urgent and elective surgery. Five ORs are available until 3:00 p.m., one OR until 5:00 p.m., and emergency surgery after hours. Provide out‑of‑OR services each day for consults, acute pain service, ECT, cardioversions, and emergency calls. Offer anesthesia services 2‑to‑3 days per week to a secondary OR in the Cancer Agency for brachytherapy (Prostate and Cervix). Join a departmental on‑call schedule. Qualifications All qualified candidates, including international medical graduates, are encouraged to apply.
