Counsellor, Grades K-12, 0.886 FTE temporary Posting Number: T - Round 1 Description: Counsellor - Grades K-12 Locations: Kootenay Discovery School (Fernie Learning Campus), Fernie Secondary School & Jaffray Elementary/Jr. Secondary School Contract Type: Part-time Temporary (0.886 FTE) Salary Range: The starting annual salary ranges from $56,134 to $99,537, based on length of service and qualifications per the collective agreement. Benefits: Competitive benefits package and pension. Terms and Conditions: Pursuant to the Collective Agreement between the Cranbrook and Fernie Teachers' Association and School District No. 5 (Southeast Kootenay). Preference will be given to applicants with BC Teacher Certification. Must have a degree/formal training and/or teaching experience in subjects and at a level specific to each posting. Job Summary 1.0 FTE temporary contract, starting January 5, 2026 or upon completion of the posting process to June 25, 2026, or return of the incumbent. Must have a Master's Degree recognized by the BC Teacher Regulation Branch in Counselling, Psychology in Counselling or Psychology. Must have a degree/formal training and/or teaching experience at the K-12 level. Must have training and/or experience in trauma informed practice. This is a District position, and 0.30 FTE of this position will support Kootenay Discovery School, 0.286 FTE will support Fernie Secondary School and 0.30 FTE will support Jaffray Elementary/Jr. Secondary School. All work will be on site. Please note: Continuing teachers will need to vacate their continuing assignment in order to accept a temporary assignment, unless the FTE is greater in the temporary job posting.
