Overview Join us as a Field Risk Engineer to play a crucial frontline role that will make the most of your technical expertise. The role of an Account Risk Engineer is to work with clients to identify and mitigate risks to their business such as fire, flood, windstorm, and equipment breakdown. The Field Risk Engineer is a core part of our risk management resources to clients and to a leading global insurance organization. A Day in the Life Property loss prevention surveys vary in size and scope. You may assess facilities ranging from metal working plants to university campuses. Success comes from building trust and cross‑functional relationships with stakeholders through effective communication. After the survey, you will use internal and external guidelines and leading edge tools to develop loss prevention solutions. We provide a Technical Integration Group and a large team for training, mentorship, and collaboration. How You Will Create An Impact Field Risk Engineers identify and mitigate risks to client businesses and contribute to risk management efforts across client sites. Responsibilities Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics Minimum one (1) year of highly protected risk, specialized industry and/or boiler and machinery field experience Familiarity with commercial occupancies Strong communicator (oral and written) Travel to attend meetings at various offices, field, and construction sites What You’ll Need To Succeed Travel up to 25% (overnight) to conduct property loss prevention surveys at commercial facilities Determine building construction and assess impacts relevant to plastics in construction Analyze water supplies and sprinkler system demands for adequacy Identify occupancy hazards and assess protection features Identify and assess external exposures on facilities Estimate fire and natural catastrophe losses for facilities Conduct consultative visits at customer facilities Conduct plan reviews Witness fire protection equipment testing Document survey results in data‑driven report writing applications Mentor and train less experienced staff Soft Skills Highly motivated and able to work with limited supervision Decision-making with and without established guidelines; provide technical support to underwriters and clients Collaborate with Account Teams including Account Engineers and Underwriters Ability to complete assignments on time Hard Skills Professional Engineer or Certified Fire Protection Specialist designation (desired but not required) Ability to perform inspections of buildings and structures, visually and with instruments Ability to read construction drawings and diagrams At least one year of driving experience with a valid U.S. driver’s license Additional Requirements Physical activity: be on feet 8–10 hours/day, safely work at heights Understand safety training for workplace and construction hazards Safely use ladders, scaffolds, lifts, and other access equipment Lift and carry up to 50 lbs Work outdoors and wear required safety equipment Type at a computer for several hours daily Drive and safely operate a motor vehicle About AIG AIG Canada is committed to inclusion and equal opportunity for all qualified individuals.
