The role of an Account Risk Engineer is to work with clients to identify and mitigate risks to their business such as fire, flood, windstorm, and equipment breakdown.The Field Risk Engineer is a core part of our risk management resources to clients and to a leading global insurance organization.A Day in the LifeProperty loss prevention surveys vary in size and scope. You may assess facilities ranging from metal working plants to university campuses. Success comes from building trust and cross‑functional relationships with stakeholders through effective communication. After the survey, you will use internal and external guidelines and leading edge tools to develop loss prevention solutions. We provide a Technical Integration Group and a large team for training, mentorship, and collaboration.How You Will Create An ImpactField Risk Engineers identify and mitigate risks to client businesses and contribute to risk management efforts across client sites.ResponsibilitiesBachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or MathematicsMinimum one (1) year of highly protected risk, specialized industry and/or boiler and machinery field experienceFamiliarity with commercial occupanciesStrong communicator (oral and written)Travel to attend meetings at various offices, field, and construction sitesWhat You’ll Need To SucceedTravel up to 25% (overnight) to conduct property loss prevention surveys at commercial facilitiesDetermine building construction and assess impacts relevant to plastics in constructionAnalyze water supplies and sprinkler system demands for adequacyIdentify occupancy hazards and assess protection featuresIdentify and assess external exposures on facilitiesEstimate fire and natural catastrophe losses for facilitiesConduct consultative visits at customer facilitiesConduct plan reviewsWitness fire protection equipment testingDocument survey results in data‑driven report writing applicationsMentor and train less experienced staffSoft SkillsHighly motivated and able to work with limited supervisionDecision-making with and without established guidelines; provide technical support to underwriters and clientsCollaborate with Account Teams including Account Engineers and UnderwritersAbility to complete assignments on timeHard SkillsProfessional Engineer or Certified Fire Protection Specialist designation (desired but not required)Ability to perform inspections of buildings and structures, visually and with instrumentsAbility to read construction drawings and diagramsAt least one year of driving experience with a valid U.S. driver’s licenseAdditional RequirementsPhysical activity: be on feet 8–10 hours/day, safely work at heightsUnderstand safety training for workplace and construction hazardsSafely use ladders, scaffolds, lifts, and other access equipmentLift and carry up to 50 lbsWork outdoors and wear required safety equipmentType at a computer for several hours dailyDrive and safely operate a motor vehicleAbout AIGAIG Canada is committed to inclusion and equal opportunity for all qualified individuals.
