Responsibilities Essential Function Salon/Beauty Industry experience highly preferred. The Salon Business Consultant is responsible for an assigned territory of customers to grow salons overall sales. The Consultant will meet and achieve assigned sales goals by utilizing manufacturer education and sales resources. Sales should be expanded by opening new doors, selling approved beauty products, and introducing new products and concepts. The Consultant will actively use social media as an additional outlet to serve salons, barbers, spas, schools, and any licensed beauty professional. Grow the Business Identify key accounts within territory and establish a route that will be most efficient to grow and develop existing customers while seeking new partnerships. Demonstrate and assist customers in developing, planning, implementing, monitoring and tracking results of all in-salon promotions, programs and concepts. Determine customers’ needs and offer products and services to meet those needs. Communicate all sales initiatives through partnering with vendors including but not limited to achieving corporate sales goals on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis. Acknowledge and respond to all email, text, and phone communication in a timely manner (24 Hours). Analyze accounts to decide what brand support, education, and promotions are needed to grow within that salon. Call on customers in person to execute established sales goals. Strictly comply with procedures regarding returns, including pickup of returns from the customer and completing required documents. Timely completion of assignments and projects that may be assigned. Work with all areas of business (customer service, accounts receivable, IT, and other necessary functions). Actively prospect for new customers through cold calling, social media, and other digital outlets. Effectively manage all administrative aspects of the role in a timely manner, including daily order entry and maintenance of customer information in salesforce.com. Attract and retain salon clientele by utilizing social media for communication, promotion, education and product knowledge. Conduct effective in-person and virtual product knowledge classes. Communicate with the Manager regarding calls, visits, orders, status of sales progress, follow-up plans and any assistance needed. Grow Team and Culture Be a subject matter expert on utilizing digital platforms & social media to grow the business. Share knowledge with peers to grow the team’s digital capabilities. Attend all meetings, functions and events and maintain regular contact as established by the Company or Supervisor. Must be available to attend shows, participate in setup and dismantling of displays, handle back stock, and perform other physical activities as required. Support all new initiatives with a growth mindset and foster change management throughout the team. Grow Yourself Exhibit a desire to learn and grow; pursue continuous improvement and grow digital & social media techniques to generate new customers and foster existing relationships. Schedule and attend business development days (BDD) to increase product knowledge and develop vendor relationships. Allocate time to participate in learning using available tools and resources. Create an organized work environment and workflow to most efficiently service customers. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent certification. Minimum of 1 year demonstrated outside sales experience or beauty industry experience with emphasis on consultative selling. Must live within the assigned territory. Working knowledge of inventory control systems and visual merchandising is strongly preferred. Excellent knowledge and experience using Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram and other social media platforms to build pipelines and books of business. Excellent computer skills, knowledge of Salesforce, Outlook, PDF Expert, and Oracle. Experience with iPad is a plus. Ability to build an online community and create social connections using search engines and other internet tools. Travel required within the territory; attendance at shows, conventions, and educational events may include overnight travel and weekends. Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safety. Frequent and sometimes prolonged periods of driving are necessary. Commitment to scheduled hours with flexibility to work additional hours as needed. Strong time management and organization skills; ability to manage multiple projects. Professional business image and positive public interaction. Clear and effective communication, both oral and written, at all levels inside and outside the organization.
