Engineering Technologist – Land Development Position Overview The Engineering Technologist – Land Development provides technical support for the City’s Lot Grading and Water and Sewer Service Connection programs. This role is responsible for investigating and responding to drainage‑related inquiries and complaints, assessing site conditions, and determining appropriate drainage solutions. The position also supports customer service requests and conducts drawing reviews for land development applications, including residential and non‑residential Development Permits. The Engineering Technologist reports to the Manager of Land Development and works collaboratively with internal teams, developers, and the public to ensure compliance with municipal standards and regulations. This is a permanent full‑time position. Required Qualifications Post secondary Diploma (2 year) in Civil Engineering or equivalent. A member or eligible to be a member of ASET or APEGA. Minimum one (1) year experience in related industry. Knowledge of lot grading and land development theory and practices. Knowledge of materials, methods and tools required for the construction of municipal infrastructure. Experience with reading and interpreting engineering plans and specifications. Experience with AutoCAD. Advanced communication skills and excellent presentation skills. Excellent collaborative negotiation and problem‑solving skills. Ability to work effectively and professionally with all levels within the organization and externally. Ability to develop, implement and evaluate innovative plans. Ability to work both independently as well as within a multifaceted team environment. Strong customer service orientation and the ability to build positive, productive business relationships. Ability to exercise tact and diplomacy in interpersonal dealings which are difficult, highly sensitive and confidential and may involve exposure to the media or public criticism. Ability to analyze and interpret administrative procedures, regulations, legal documents, and legislation. Enhanced knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, and PowerPoint.
