Position Title: Director, Technical Training Reports to: VP Global Operations Location: A remote working arrangement within North America is available for this role.Travel required. Nature & Scope of Position We are seeking a results-driven Technical Training Director with deep experience in Aircraft Engine, Airframe and Component MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul) and manufacturing environments. This leadership role is responsible for designing and executing technical training strategies that ensure our worldwide workforce is highly skilled in inspection, repair, disassembly, reassembly, and compliance standards specific to aerospace MRO operations across numerous sites/locations.The ideal candidate brings a blend of instructional design expertise, leadership capability, innovation, and will drive continuous improvement across the StandardAero enterprise. Position Accountabilities Develop and manage a comprehensive technical training program focused on Aircraft Engine and Airframe MRO best practices, lean manufacturing, safety, and regulatory compliance (FAA, EASA, ISO, etc.) Develop and lead a team that will focus on technical training and certification across multiple functions (Operations, Quality, Engineering and Supply Chain) and will provide new hire training as well as certification, progression and refresher courses. Lead a team of technical trainers and subject matter experts to deliver hands-on and classroom-based training and OJT training on the factory floor Leverage state of the art training technology and identify new training mediums to increase training reach across the StandardAero enterprise Utilize Learning Management System (LMS) to track certifications, training progress, and compliance Evaluate technical training outcomes through KPIs such as defect rates, rework, productivity, and audit readiness Develop technical training curricula for new technologies, equipment, and process changes introduced in MRO operations and airframe maintenance Maintain partnerships with OEMs, vocational/educational institutions, and certification bodies to stay current with evolving standards and technologies Create an organization and program design that is flexible, adaptable and scalable to accommodate training for multiple programs and functions across the organization. Leverage community partnerships to feed the talent pipeline and provide additional training venues and curriculum options. Enhance and build upon grants and community investment in geographies where StandardAero operates CI Leadership Use interdisciplinary knowledge and tools, including Continuous Improvement principles, to help the teams uncover opportunities and solve problems. Support the long-term vision, strategies, and deployment activities for Continuous Improvement for Tech Training that aligns with StandardAero objectives and goals Supports the business in managing and delivering improvement projects and ensuring business excellence in various functional areas, as well as at a manufacturing cell level Discover new techniques and technologies for training process improvements, strategies and tools Understand Lean principles and rigorously promote concepts to impact organizational culture, engage our teams and leaders Drive process optimization through Continuous Improvement activities (Workshops, Kaizen, and Rapid Improvement Events) Support strategies to continue to expand the culture of Continuous Improvement and employee knowledge of Lean Six Sigma methods through development and delivery of programs to educate employees about lean concepts Leadership Accountabilities Ensure personal accountability as a leader and inspire a culture of high performance by demonstrating StandardAero’s values in all transactions and interactions – excellence, integrity, respect, innovation, teamwork Develop decision making maturity to ensure that the best interests of customers, shareholders and employees are weighed appropriately Set clear expectations and hold others accountable for their contributions Demonstrate initiative and be active in problem-solving Require standard work for all processes including leadership accountabilities and communication Demonstrate effective conflict management and skillfully handle difficult interactions Model behaviors consistent with good quality, health and safety, and environmental management practices. Able to build and maintain strong cross-functional relationships with internal and external stakeholders; able to effectively communicate issues, actively engage and influence and work collaboratively as a team member Skills Experience leading change, business excellence and/or continuous improvement in a related industry Proven experience in managing and delivering complex projects with multiple stakeholders Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities with a focus on results and continuous improvement Strong analytical and decision-making skills, with the ability to gather and interpret data to drive decisions Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively present information to stakeholders at all levels Exceptional organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously A proven change agent who is a systems thinker A purposeful visionary capable of long-term strategic planning Collaborative and capable of mentoring and coaching others Values stakeholder perspectives and solicits diverse ideas and viewpoints Previous work with apprenticeship programs a plus Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Industrial Technology, Education, or related field 5+ years of experience in technical training roles, with at least 2 years in an MRO / manufacturing setting or related experience Demonstrated knowledge of Airframe maintenance and MRO processes such as teardown, inspection, repair, and assembly Strong understanding of adult learning principles and instructional design for technical workforces Familiarity with aviation, complex equipment, and regulations/standards.
