**The opportunity**:
The Assistant Director of Support, Compliance and Training oversees the delivery of operational support including the training and qualifications of ISO supervisors, security personnel, and contractors. This includes responsibilities such as hiring, training, conducting performance appraisals, and fostering team building through effective communication. This position ensures that all personnel adhere to the Provincial Code of Conduct and maintain a high standard of professionalism and equity within the UMSS.
The Assistant Director will represent the Security Services Department in an official capacity to both internal and external agencies, and ensures that operational expectations are met through effective support, communication and collaboration.
The incumbent must qualify and act as a Designated Official for the university under the Federal Controlled Goods Program, and conduct security clearances and evaluations pursuant to program conditions.

**The qualifications and experience we’re looking for**:
- University degree in a related discipline or equivalent combination of training and experience required.
- Certified Protection Professional (CPP) designation or the ability to obtain such designation within 12-months of hiring as a condition of employment OR equivalent combination of training, qualifications and experience.
- Must qualify and maintain an Institutional Safety Officer Designation.
- Must qualify and maintain a Provincial Security Designation.
- Must qualify and maintain qualifications as Designated Official under the Canadian Controlled Goods Program.
- Must possess and maintain a clear criminal record, and a clear adult and child abuse registry record.
- Minimum five years' experience as a mid or senior manager in a unionized environment.
- Experience in a corporate or private security management role or experience in a public policing mid or senior management role required.
- Experience with administrative/intelligence reports, policy development and operational support planning required.
- Excellent report writing skills required.
- Excellent oral communication and effective presentation skills required.
- Solid understanding of current leadership and management skills required.
- Team building skills required.
- Time management skills required.
- Fiscal management skills required.
- Ability to think and act strategically required.
- Strong desire to collaborate and cooperate with internal and external stakeholders in a dynamic and challenging work environment required.
- Ability to work under pressure both independently and in a team setting required.
- Certification in Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED®)
- Certified Protection Professional (CPP or PSP)
- Certified Business Continuity Professional (CBCP)
- Human Resources Certifications (Including but not limited to SHRM, SHRM-SCP, CIM, CHRP)
- Intelligence Analysis Qualification
