Overview Senior Software Engineer, Self Serve - Experimentation at Instacart. About the Role We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our Self-Serve team. The role focuses on the Experimentation Platform, where you will extend and maintain internal A/B testing and metrics platforms that inform our product development process. You will work closely with data scientists and engineers to implement new experimentation methodologies and develop tooling to help cross‑functional teams make data‑driven decisions. About the Team The mission of the Instacart Self Serve team is to improve the productivity of data practitioners through easy‑to‑use, self‑serve tools. This includes our Experimentation Platform, Portal, Data Alerting System, dbt + Airflow, Semantic Layer, and data quality initiatives. About The Job You will be part of a small team with a large surface area and ownership, as tooling is used by the entire company. You will have the freedom to propose and drive new initiatives. You are expected to mentor other team members and champion engineering excellence. You will work closely with other teams to understand their main pain points around data and translate them into self‑serve, reliable solutions. Responsibilities Extend and maintain the internal Experimentation Platform and associated metrics tooling. Collaborate with data scientists and engineers on new experimentation methodologies. Build tooling to help cross‑functional teams make data‑driven decisions. Mentor other team members and promote engineering excellence. Engage with other teams to translate data pain points into self‑serve solutions. Minimum Qualifications Self-motivation and an enjoyment for a startup environment A strong sense of ownership Strong knowledge of common data infra technologies (Python, Airflow, Snowflake, dbt) in a production environment An ability to balance urgency with shipping high‑quality, pragmatic solutions Experience working with a large codebase on a cross‑functional team Strong knowledge of SQL Strong knowledge of React 7+ years of working experience in a similar field/environment Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or equivalent work experience Compensation and Location Instacart provides highly market‑competitive compensation and benefits in each location where our employees work. This role is remote and the base pay range is dependent on permanent work location. Review our Flex First remote work policy. Currently, we are hiring in Ontario, Alberta, British Columbia, and Nova Scotia. Offers may vary based on factors such as candidate experience and skills. This role is eligible for a new hire equity grant and annual refresh grants. Read more about our benefits offerings here. For Canadian candidates, the base pay range is listed as: CAN $165,000–$183,000 CAD.
