As a leadership role in the Culinary Department this position will report directly to the Executive Chef. Responsibilities Maintains positive guest and colleague interactions with good working relationships. Ensures recipes are accurately followed and maintaining the highest quality standards. Coordinates with culinary team, F&B Management and Events team to ensure a seamless guest experience, handle guest issues and to take corrective actions when necessary. Monitors colleague morale and provided performance feedback and development. Ensures that colleagues comply with food safety standards and maintain a high level of safety regulations in the kitchens. Delegates appropriately duties and responsibilities to equipped and resourceful colleagues, nurturing and developing them through their career. Attends and contributes to all Meetings as required. Skills and Qualifications The ideal candidate will be a passionate, highly skilled, positive, creative, empathetic and with a high attention to detail, excellence and continuous improvements. In-depth knowledge of kitchen operations required and the ability to work hands on developing and training new and innovative banquet & event menus. Displays a desire to continually elevate Andaz Ottawa's culinary experience. Proven culinary skills and knowledge required with at least 2 years of previous Sous Chef or Chef De Cuisine experience either in a hotel or high-end independent restaurant. Culinary education, red seal will be an asset. Highly self-motivated with a desire to learn, grow, continually improve and set an exceptional leadership example for colleagues. Requires full flexibility, ability to work weekends, evenings, nights and holidays and on a varied schedule, ability to work long shifts and supervise all outlets. Must have smart serve and food handler certification. While performing the duties of this job, the colleague is regularly required to sit; stand; bend; walk; reach, pull, use hands or fingers; or feel objects, tools or controls; may need to lift boxes (up to 30 lbs).
