POSITION TITLE: IT Project Specialist

SUMMARY:
The IT Project Specialist plays a pivotal role in the Performance Excellence and Information Services (PEIS) department. They are responsible for leading IT projects and improvements. This role requires exceptional skills in project management, technical troubleshooting, problem solving, relationship building and communication. The IT Project Specialist will work closely with other teams and stakeholders across the organization to ensure the successful design, development and delivery of project initiatives.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead a variety of IT projects end-to-end, including scope definition, in-depth research, business case development, and stakeholder adoption.
- In collaboration with vendors and other PEIS teams, provide leadership, subject matter expertise, support and continuous improvement of HIROC's IT services.
- Work closely with other PEIS teams to provide overall incident management leadership and support for IT applications and technology services.
- Identify opportunities to leverage innovative technologies to enhance business processes.
- Establish and maintain relationships across all business units, to serve as a trusted partner in project and service delivery.
- Serve as a thought leader in technology innovation, by conducting environmental scans and other market and industry research.
- Assist the lead of Performance Excellence in project governance, maintaining documentation and project artifacts.
- Coordinate governance meetings such as Change Advisory Board (CAB), data governance committee and other forums.
- Support the development of business cases, briefing notes, and presentations to ensure effective and efficient communication with senior stakeholders.
- Other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Extensive experience with technical project management (e.g. Agile, PMP). Certification in project management methodologies is a plus.
- Strong skills in working with content management systems (e.g. Drupal, Wordpress or similar).
- Comprehensive technical expertise in Microsoft cloud technologies, such as Microsoft 365, Dynamics 365, and Azure.
- Experience with identity and access management systems and technologies (e.g. SAML, LDAP) is an asset.
- Outstanding skills in planning and operationalizing complex projects and achieving results.
- Strong skills in incident management, service management, and troubleshooting.
- Vendor management experience, including but not limited to experience with organizations providing website hosting, maintenance, and support.
- Ability to effectively manage time between multiple competing initiatives and priorities.
- Strong facilitation skills and ability to tailor approaches to different problems and audiences.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to clearly articulate complex ideas to a wide range of stakeholders.
- Strong relationship management skills and the ability to lead multidisciplinary teams.
- Knowledge of the Canadian healthcare system is a plus.
- A self-starter who is motivated to help improve safety in the Canadian healthcare system.
EDUCATION, TRAINING & KNOWLEDGE:
- A University degree, preferably in Engineering, Business, Computer Science, or related field.
- 5+ years of experience in website incident management, service management and troubleshooting.
- 5+ years of experience in technical project management, facilitation, and process design.
- Most importantly, you are an enthusiastic and creative thinker, who is constantly driving performance improvement and are passionate about creating the safest healthcare system possible for Canadians.
