Our client is looking for a Health & Safety Specialist to join their team. In this role, you will be responsible for supporting the company’s commitment to health and safety by ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation and internal standards.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in promoting a culture focused on prevention and proactive safety measures across the organization.
  • Support the development and implementation of health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Educate employees and managers on best practices in occupational health and safety.
  • Help ensure compliance with MPI standards and occupational health and safety regulations.
  • Participate in incident investigations and contribute to the implementation of corrective actions.
  • Track and analyze safety performance metrics and prepare reports for key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Coordinate and support the activities of Joint Health and Safety Committees (JHSCs).
  • Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to facilitate the processing of safety claims and support return-to-work initiatives.


Qualifications:

  • 2-5 years of experience in the Occupational Health and Safety field.
  • A Certified Occupational Health and Safety designation (e.g., CRSP, CHSC, CHSE) or equivalent would be considered an asset.
  • Experience in conducting incident investigations, hazard assessments, and developing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and safety training programs is an asset.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with team members and stakeholders.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and experience with online SDS management and incident reporting systems.
  • Experience in an agricultural or manufacturing environment is an advantage.
